  • Easts Reserve Grade

Anyone else see that farkwitt Hadley last night on the fatty show mention about reserves coming back in to all 16 teams in 2015???

Retaining under 20s also but a full reserves comp, most probably all 3 grades on game day.

Anyone got any info on what's being discussed???

If it happens this IC will win plenty of support from fans IMO.

and what will happen to our relationship with Newtown once Reserves is reinstated? Will we continue as Jets or play once again as the mighty Roosters?

Hopefully we get rid of the jets and bring back our own team. We will never win a premiership under the newtown curse..

If the NRL is going to do this they will need to up the grant or clubs are just going to reject the idea based on the financials of it all.

The Jets will survive regardless of what level they're playing at, the appeal is the nostalgia of Henson Park and the Jets. Given the NRL want reserve grade to play before First Grade there's no way we'll still be associated with the Jets as they'll never agree to play out of the SFS.

That'd be crap, I love Henson Park on a warm Saturday arvo.

I'd never see reserve grade if it was before first grade, we usually get there just as the teams are coming out.....we've got the run from the Cricketers timed to the second.

Ahhh the old days sitting on the hill on a sunny Sunday at the Sports Ground with the U23's at 12pm, Reserve Grade at 1.30pm and First Grade at 3pm and the guy walking around selling peanuts, they were the good old days but it will never be the same even if we do get the reserve grade side back. Will be happy to see reserves reinstated but still have a soft spot for the Newtown connection.

                I'd be a big fan.

Will keep players in the game.

                  Exactly my friend.

Who gives a fark about Pootown, this is about It's a structure issue for the game. I don't believe it's working, watching the 20s is painful, it's not quality. Kids may be big these days at 19 but they don't have the experience that playing reserves gives, as a footballer.

And the issue of the 2nd tier cap, it's not working either.

These systems were put in place by NewsFilth. Like most things they touch its turned to shit.

Piss Newtown off and bring back our reserve grade, I've been saying it for years.

Love to see it happen but where does the $$$ come from for the players. If the top tier players keep getting the coin in upgrades to contracts according to the rise in the cap there is less for the lower and mid tier players and that is essentially what the reserve grade sides would be filled with. The club grants would have to increase significantly which means less money for somewhere else.

Sounds good if true, plenty of players don't find their feet till mid 20's and go by the wayside in the current system. The NRL system from 20's to the top grade is ruthless and needs more stepping stones to retain and nuture players..

Paul McGregor and Bryan Fletcher didn't make their first grade debuts until around 24. They were always talents just not ready for firsts as 20 year olds.

And don't forget the guy selling the tickets for the first 2 try scorers in the main game, $100 for a dollar.

                              I really miss those peanuts.

I can still hear the guy's voice who sold them "Peanuts. In the shell or sugar coated, just 40c".

                              Ahhhh memories.
