They were great days as a youngster going to support the Roosters. We copped some right floggings at the Sports Ground. But my enthusiasm never wavered and it always made my day to see Ferguson get a touch of the ball and weave his magic.
Chicka Ferguson was one bright light for us back then, he scored some amazing tries.

Yeah that parra game Sterlo tore us a new one scoring 3 and setting up another 2 earning him a 10 from rugby league week.

Yeah I think Sterlo's was the first 10/10 and I think there has only been one or two ever since.

I'm not sure of beforehand but Kevin Hasting got a 10 out of 10 in The Rugby League Week players rating in 1983 against Penrith at Penrith Park in the pouring rain, he set up both tries for Marty Gurr with precision kicks and just played the perfect wet weather football game.Easts won 17-0.

Did you see Gould in the background when the camera focused on Beetson?
He has been around a long time.

I was sitting at the Penrith Game under an umbrella in the pouring rain, you could not forget the sublime game Hastings had that day, played the perfect game to suit the conditions and Marty Gurr like most of 1983 knew to trail Hastings and he would come up with a try.

I didn't notice that dude what I did notice was a younger Politis sitting to the right of Beetson.

I remember a couple of games against the riff, One of them Salvo head butted Goeff Gerrard, 5 mtrs away from where i was sitting, i will never forget the cracking noise on impact.

In another game Tony Melrose kicked a 40 mtr field goal to win the game with a couple of minutes to go.

                      Those were the days

The Salvo head butt game was in 1992, Geoff Gerard last year at Penrith was 1989.Cant remember who Salvo head butted but it came just after Jeff Orford scored a fantastic try which gave us a 10-8 lead, the head butt came just after Penrith kicked off from the try and Salvo had a brain snap while in possession and he cost us the match and put a huge dent in us having a chance in the finals as we never quite recovered from Salvo being out then Garry Freeman missing for a few games while Salvo was out due to NZ test duties.

Was it 92 or 95 when we came home with a 'wet sail' and almost made the semis?...There where some great moments in that run whenever it happened?....too much alcohol in the early 90s so it was a blurr for me. We had had endured a lean time since 82 with only 87 making the finals..so I got pretty much excited if we were an outside chance of jagging a finals appearance.

1995. We towelled up Balmain 44-6 in the last game and needed Gold Coast to knock off Norths and we would have snuck into the 8. Gold Coast led most of the game but Norths scored at the death to earn a draw and jag 8th spot
