  • Fire up!!

What is the deal? Last year Souths were strong and we were shit. Still no one here ever thought they could or should beat us. They have been the joke of the NRL for a very long time. No matter how good they got they have always been treated with contempt by East supporters and rightly so.

Fast forward to now and we are a gun team. Yes we are struggling with injuries and our form has not been the best. However, a month ago we were hot favourites to win the title. Now, before the semis or Friday's match has even begun there is this massive sense of negativity and it seems many Easts supporters have given up.

Well I say **** that. We all need to fire up. We can win on Friday and we can win the title. It isn't over until its over and we are right in this thing. Come on you bastards get angry, get excited. That is all.

The players need to fire up as well. Were very, very flat on Sunday until they got in front, at which point they started to roll through them.

I'm sure the players will be up for it on Friday night.

If we lose then so be it, it's not the end of the world.

I would rather beat them deep in the semis.

roosters vs souths is a different ball game.

2012 they came within a torn hamstring of a grand final, we were a braith anasta away from the spoon.

we won our first encounter and lost the second at the death.

        anything can happen.

Souths are at full strength and we are missing crucial players.

And although I've dimmed my expectations dramatically as a result, I'll always maintain some hope.

But ... speaking objectively, this has the stench of Souths 13+ written all over it.

I sure hope I'm wrong for the sake of all the mighty Roosters fans who make their way to ANZ on Friday.

Someone take Sam Burgess on a holiday for the night and we can roll them.
Keep him quiet (good luck with that) & they are a different team.

Just the word souffs is enough to fire up anyone

Inglis and Luke are the ones we need to keep quiet. Easier said than done.

Those Inglis kick returns are everything. So Jimmy, Mitch and Jake better be on with their kicking game. Find the ground fellas or its piggy back city on the back of momentum and game over.

I'm generally a pessimistic supporter - been many tough times and have seen too many performances like the one last Sunday. That always seems to happen when we are heavy favourites.

However, as the week wears on this match has a smell a bit like the Bulldogs match earlier in the season during origin when we thought to be no hope (& I thought this to).

Souths are expected to win. We play better as underdogs. They are quite inexperienced in some parts. Maybe there is a Steve Mavin among them (might not be this week but could be later in the finals).

The key is to get off to a good start. Get them to doubt themselves. We haven't been great starting matches recently but if we do I suspect we might click.

Time will tell but fingers crossed.

                    Lower your expectations.

                    A bloodbath is looming.

They have danger right across the park but their key player all year has been John Sutton, stop him and you go along way to halting Souths.

I agree but be prepared to be labelled a "grub" or "douche bag" and told to support Souffs.

I said it before, ill say it again. John Sutton is a myth.
How he even got considered for a Blues spot is beyond me.
He is their version of Braith Anasta - a rank average 5/8 who should play in the back row.

He's been playing for Souths since 2004 and the only time he's made the finals was in 2007 with a good coach that was brought along too soon (like Anasta in 2008) and in 2012 and 2013 now that he has a good halves partner (like Anasta in 2010).

He certainly couldn't do it with Sandow, or Joe Williams, or anyone else that threw on that wretched red and green jumped in the mid to late 2000's, and he certainly couldn't do it by himself.
