disgraceful media driven agenda regarding JWH and Burgess

must say i'm sick of the media agenda regarding JWH/Burgess since Friday night, JWH has already been found guilty in the eyes of the media with all outlets this morning reporting this morning he "will" receive a grade 1 dangerous contact charge", as usual the MRP will fold to the court of public opinion.

then in regards Burgess its amazing how this has been swept under the carpet, the video of him raking his fingers in Maloney's eyes is widespread but the commentary is disgraceful, basically Burgess is a great guy and he doesn't need this rubbish in his game, not one media outlet calling for a suspension.

The DT have run practically the same story in the Sunday and Monday issues of their paper, it's not like they're even being subtle about it.

If JWH is suspended it is undesputable proof that there is one rule for some an another for others. Nine's footy showed an incident involving Pomeroy from the Sharks . A similar incident (much worse in my view but I might be biased). He was placed on report but exonerated.

This was before his headslam on Shrek that wasn't worth a penalty - go figure

I was watching the HD footage of the Burgess eye gouge last night on my 70inch tv and it clearly shows him digging his fingers into Maloney's eye socket it wasn't a case of him brushing his hand across his face, if Maloney had turned around and starting pushing Burgess around and a fight broke out and then everyone saw the cause of the incident Burgess would be facing 6+ weeks on the sideline.

the problem the roosters have with the JWH situation is the media is in such a frenzy that the MRP is backed into a corner and if they don't charge JWH it will been seen as anything goes heading into the finals.

one final problem is if he is charged and the club want to fight the suspension is they can't use that Pomeroy case in their defence as it is not allowed in the judiciary process, past incidents are not allowed in the defence's case

Its a disgrace that the Pomeroy incident cant be used as a defence,it was exactly the same hit only Pomeroy was running head on whereas Hargreaves was turning out of a tackle..
That alone makes Pomeroys hit a little worse!

The thing with Burgess, it wasn't even part of a tackle. Maloney is standing there amongst some players, and Squirrel just grabs him from behind and rakes the eyes.
Even if you use the same argument that he got off so lightly with the squirrel grip i.e "there was not much force used", when it comes to the eyes, you don't need much force or pressure to cause serious injury. He could have dencorub or resin residue or vaseline on his finger tips ..... more than a little discomfort having those substances or remnants of those substances rubbed across your eyes !

It's called precedent. If the judiciary wants to call itself a court of law, they need to adhere to the rulings in past cases.
