  • Refs delay/ignore some decisions?

    http://m.smh.com.au/rugby-league/lea...908-2te7p.html

Referee Matt Cecchin also allowed the Roosters to play on rather than penalise Souths for being offside near their own line and James Maloney scored the opening try of Friday night's match on the following tackle.

''We have had to work hard at our own craft on all sorts of professional fouls and repeat penalties,'' Anderson said.

    ---

While Cecchin is not quoted as saying anything about the above, the context suggests that he consciously decided to not blow the whistle for Souffs being offside because he guessed Maloney MIGHT have a shot at scoring.

All I can say is why didn't he call advantage if that was the case?

To me it just seems like poor practice and we were lucky that we did score in that situation because past experience has showed that it s*x when we don't!

From memory on the coverage the commentators said the pocket referee called the offside but the other ignored him and played the advantage.
Refs can't win on here... they blow the penalty and all the nutters go on about all our penalties are on the try line and we get no advantage from them.... don't blow the penalty and no doubt it is further proof we are being screwed over.

It was the right decision .Too many refs blow the whistle too early and cost teams .Whats all the fuss about?
