it will be interesting to see what Stan has been charged with, he always came across as one of the young ones with a good head on his shoulders. Part of the god squad.

hopefully more information comes out soon.

Waqa stood down after being charged
          October 7, 2009 - 7:34PM

Sydney Roosters have stood down front-rower Stanley Waqa after he was charged over a knife-wielding incident in which a young woman was wounded in Sydney's east.

Police say Waqa, 21, and a woman were heard arguing inside a unit in Mulwarree Avenue, Randwick, about 11am (AEDT) on Wednesday.

During the argument, he allegedly armed himself with a knife and swung at the 20-year-old.

Neighbours called the police who arrested Waqa and later charged him with recklessly wounding another person and granted him conditional bail.

He is expected to appear in Waverley Local Court on Thursday.

The woman suffered a laceration to her finger and was treated at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital in a stable condition.

The incident continues a horrific year for the Roosters who finished the season as the NRL wooden-spooners and with an even worse off-field record for player behaviour.

Waqa, 21, joins the likes of Willie Mason, Nate Myles, Jake Friend, Anthony Cherrington, Sandor Earl and Setaimata Sa in being reprimanded by the club for off-field troubles in the past 12 months.

"The Sydney Roosters have today stood down front-rower Stanley Waqa after an incident this morning led to him being charged," said the club in a statement.

"Whilst the matter is now under investigation by the Maroubra Police, the club will be taking swift and decisive action when the full facts of the case are known.

"The club will continue to cooperate with the police and at this time there will be no further comment."

Waqa played just nine NRL games for the Roosters in 2009.

            Further info;

SYDNEY Roosters front rower Stanley Waqa has been charged with reckless wounding after his wife was cut with a knife this morning. He has been stood down by the club.

Waqa is due in court tomorrow.

The club said it would take "swift and decisive action" once the full facts of the case are known.

Waqa's arrest continues a horror year for the club, which came last in the NRL competition and has endured a host of off-field dramas, including forward Nate Myles defecating in a hotel corridor, hooker Jake Friend being charged with drink driving and former coach Brad Fittler getting locked out his hotel room while drunk on an away trip.
Another Roosters attacking his girlfriend with a knife? Cherro teach him that trick?

                    Disgraceful.

Honestly, I cannot believe the club hasn't already sacked Sa and Mason, and that they re-signed Friend, Myles and Cherrington after what they did. And now another one.

If it was up to me, I would have sacked some of these blokes straight away. Doesn't matter how important they are to this team, they need to know responsibility.

This is what happens when a club doesn't have the balls to make the hard decisions and sack players for off field misbehaviour. The rest decide that what's good enough for one is good enough for another.

If the Club sacks Waqa after keeping Cherrington and possibly Sa they will look like bloody hypocrites and with good reason.

And we're supposedly adding Carney to the mix.

God help Brian Smith, because he will need divine intervention at this rate to cure this team of its disgraceful attitude and mentality.

It could be worse though, Farkwit Fittler could still be in charge and telling all and sundry that 'boys will be boys' and it's all OK.
