(1)/(2) is given a much harder draw, previously it only had to beat 8 to get the week off. Under the currently system you've got to beat 4 (or in your case 3). Its a much harder match and sets up the situation where 1 or 2 are more likely to go out in straight sets.

Under the old system , (3) was unlikely to go out first up, but if it did so what?

Under the old system, the team that finished 3rd after the regular season could be out after losing just their first semi, which is totally unfair
One could say That if you lose to the 6th place side and end up being out then you deserve it

Thats right. The system we have now is worse for teams 1 and 2, better for teams 3 and 4, worse for teams 5 and 6 and better for teams 7 and 8!

IMO we should be playing top 6 only, with 1 and 2 getting the first week off while 3 v 6, 4 v 5. But the NRL would lose a bucket load of money if it did that. Teams coming 7 and 8 usually only with 50% of their games. I can't see how this should be enough to play semifinal football.

I agree with this But a couple of crucial things that you are not touching on make it fair for there to be a top 8

1 You do not play each other twice

2 Sides whom are heavily representerd at SOO time can be majorly disadvanatged throughout the year

Adress these two issues then a top 6 ios the way to go

This isnt directed at you as I am not sure wheer you have stood on this I find it amusing now that we have finished 1st people are now trotting out this line that we are disadvantaged Yet aprt ffrom myslef I cannot really remeber anyone on here who was in favour of the Macintyre system that we previously had when it was in place All i recall is peple saying it should be replaced with the AFL system

Even with our high mistake rate last week we managed to trump souths because of 2 factors.. 1 - Great defense.. 2 - it was our best kicking game all year .. We do those right and we'll beat manly by more than last weeks game imo.

My views have nothing to do with the fact that the Roosters came 1st, and views on the subject have'nt changed.

the top side should be given more advantages not less. And I didn 't mind the fact that if you lost it kept you on the edge of your seat all weekend barracking for |Wests or Parra.
