  • Spare Cash for next season?

I've seen posts saying SBW has signed with Union already for 2014. Plus Kennedy is officially a Bronco from next year.

My question is what will we do with the spare cash? There is a substantial amount of free $$ if SBW doesnt play for us next year.

Who would you like to see us sign? Who is off contract worth signing?

I reckon we'll need most of the SBW money to upgrade Sheck, Tupou, Moga (if we hang on to him) Evans, Liu, Napa, Langi, Moa.....and pretty soon we're going to have to start paying Jenko full whack, as I'm assuming the Panfers are currently contributing.

Also, I think LOD is on minimum wage, so he'll be chasing a pay rise.

In short, we're going to go pretty close with the squad we have - I'd rather us try and keep it together, instead of looking at blokes like Fergo, Hopoate etc.

This. If we have any cash left then we need to sign a quality outside back but that should be last on our priority list.

Exactly. Well said. Many on this forum complain incessantly about the media but take whatever rumour the media print as a fact. Don't believe everything you read.

SBW won't sign any contract (with us or another) until this season has finished...
He's proven his professionalism & commitment to whichever team he plays for during the last few years...
Should we win this years comp, i think he'll leave, if we don't, he may stay to get the job done...
Either way, he's earn't respect this year...On & off the field...

I hope we win & he still stays...

Win or lose this year I believe SBW will be with us again next year. The lure of going back to back which is a huge challenge will be very enticing, along with going to England to play in the World Club Challenge.

What I would like to see us do is let Arona and Bosden go and sign up Jason Taumalolo from the cowboys, who is a massive talent and is only 20yrs of age. I see Taumalolo as the player who can take over from SBW when he leaves at the end of 2014. Both Arona and Bosden are in our top 25 squad. Arona is not up to first grade standard at the Roosters, he is just too small. Bosden unfortunately is always injured, so imo they are both a waste of space in our top 25 squad.

Then I would let go of SKD and sign either Hoppa or Fergo.

These changes will only further strengthen our roster and significantly so, which you should always look to do!

Also a decision needs to be made about Seluini and Oldfield who are also both in our top 25 squad. Robbo has been reluctant to use either this year. Granted Oldfield has been injured for a fair portion of the season, but there was a chance earlier this year to use him, and Robbo preferred to go with switching Maubs to center and pushing SKD to wing instead.

Ideally we need a strong squad of 25 where Robbo is not reluctant to use anyone.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                      Here's looking at you, kid.

I like the way you think! Agree with most of your comments here! Taumalolo is a gun and probably isn't being utilised all that well up north! He is in the same mould as Dave Taylor and is ridiculously hard to tackle!

I would like to see Oldfield get a go next season, I cant stand when we put Aubusson into the centres!

Hopoate would also be a good signing but with Parramatta signing him on ridiculous money I doubt we would have any chance at getting him for a reasonable price. Lets keep away from Fergusson tho, undoubtedly great talent but also undoubtedly a douche.

Cheers Max! Taumalolo as you say is a gun and very much reminds me of Dave Taylor with being such a destructive runner of the ball, very hard to stop!

When it comes to Oldfield, Robbo needs to make the decision whether he is willing to use him or if he is reluctant to use him then let him go or have him drop out of the top 25 squad and sign with the Jets and promote one of our good young outside backs or the new signing from the raiders Jonathan Reuben.

Would be great to get Hoppa, as you say price could be a worry but when SBW leaves will free up more coin. Surely Hoppa would prefer to take less and join a successful club where he will enjoy his footy instead of the train wreck which is the eels!

I wouldn't be worried about Fergo's behavior, I have full faith in Robbo and his staff to get the best out of Fergo and have him on the right path in life! I would be over the moon to get either of them and replace SKD.

I believe it's time to bring back Braith, he had a tough year last year and has had a horrible this year with Tim Sheens and Benji leaving (the only reason he joined the Tigers) and has had to play out of position.

                            Bring back Anasta,

                            Drop Maloney.

Rise Again. Represent 1908. Tick Tick Boom!

What about Adam Blair?? If rumours are true that Tigers are trying to release him do you think he will go well under Robbo.

They say he was so dominant at Storm coz of Bellamy, so I think Robbo would make him a force like he did with Moa.
