As for anasta, he is an overated dud. The only thing he is good at leading is his single figure golf handicap.
I reckon you are grossly underestimating Anasta. He was one of the few who could hold his head up without shame during the games he played in 2009.
The fact that our ill disciplined rabble of a team would not follow his lead is not his fault, but the fault of Farkwit Fittler, who gave Anasta little or no support and appeared to encourage our players to do as they damn well pleased - on and off the field.

It's fair to say that our performance both on and off the field deteriorated once he took over as captain though. If the players don't respond to the captain or the coach then who's fault is it ??

he gets paid marquee money, is an experienced player who is playing in a vital position in the team.
fact is that teams with him as five eight have only made the finals in one of the last 5 years. that is a terrible record and says it all to me.

I reckon Farkwit Fittler divided the squad by taking the captaincy from Fitzy and handing it over to Braith in the first place.
On reflection, Braith was probably on a hiding to nothing when given what turned out to be a poisoned chalice.
Whose fault it was - Farkwit Fittler, by changing the captaincy for no logical reason other than he no longer wanted Fitzy to have it.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that he came to the Roosters when they were on the downhill spiral, which he cannot be blamed for.
Face it - since he came to the Roosters our coaches have been pretty ordinary and he's been also been potentially shifted to lock and shifted back to 5/8 more than once between one season and the next.
Most of our players, senior and junior, have not performed to their potential since 2005, so it's not as if Anasta is not in good company.
And at least he's had a dig, which is more than I can say for others.

As was Fitzy.....one of the greatest leaders we ever had....
i'm not o sure about that. I cast no aspersions on the man himself. but his leadership skills were lacking. on his watch we sunk deep deep deep. if we think a captain can lead us to heights then we must also believe that a captain can be a participant (albeit benign) in the sink downwards.
I just think about a captain who was a brilliant communicator and diplomat to effect real changes on and off the field.
but maybe I am expecting too much of any of our squad.
Supermario - i've been thinking the same thing. Maybe Sam Perrett has what it takes. Anasta was my automatic choice, but he just is a party boy at heart. Perrett was certainly the most vociferous within the team about other players shenanigans.
