  • With all on deck, who misses out ?

Last nights win was full of guts, yes at times it was ugly, at times frustrating, but to keep a potent team like Manly to zero, was outstanding.

This is without question the best defensive roosters team since 1975, and to do it last night without two of our most brilliant forwards was an inspiring effort
    .
In 1975, Easts had to do it without two of its greatest players in Mark Harris and Russell Fairfax. This time around, it looks like the roosters will have a full roster to choose from.

So the question is.........who misses out, once Cordner and JWH returns ?
My starting forward pack is FPN, GUERRA, SBW, JWH, FRIEND, MOA
    BENCH- Cordner, Aubusson, Mortimer,O'Donnell

My only concern is, that forward pack has a million penalties in it.
Does Martin Kennedy deserve a spot ?

On form you can't leave Guerra out. Both Kennedy and Napa will miss out which is a bloody shame for young Napa (though his time will eventually come)

Honestly though I'd be inclined to leave Mortimer out and play the extra prop. Though that 15 minute (25-30 when including half time) break for Jake does seem effective

He's building a nice little resume is Napa. Some fine hits on Gallen, Burgess, Graham and although accidental, Fa'aoso may as well be added to the list for good measure.

I don't think you can leave Mortimer out. It's no coincidence that Friend's fine form this year is because he is getting that 15-20min spell. Also having a spare half/goal kicker on the bench is valuable.
I think Kennedy is the first to drop off, and whilst Cordner has been superb all year, I don't think we can carry him if he's only 60% fit. If he's genuinely fit to go, then it's a toss up between Napa and LOD. I think Guerra deserves to stay

Kennedy is the first to go. Will be tough for him but in a prelim final it will save us at least three penalties.

We need the 4 prop rotation.

JWH, Moa and LOD are certainties. That leaves Napa and Kennedy fighting for the last spot.

Then you've got Morts and Maubs/Guerra.

Nope. Mortimer is on the bench.
Fit Cordner pushes FPN to the bench.
              Moa on the bench.
I'd have Kennedy over Maubs for the last bench spot.
              Leaves starting pack of:
              8. JWH
              9. Friend
              10. LOD
              11. Guerra
              12. SBW
              13. Cordner

I think in the last two games of the season Friend would be able play as strongly playing for 80 mins as he would with 10 min break, especially the amount dummy half running we do. In saying that why change winning formula?

Regardless of all of the above though I would strongly consider 4 man forward bench against souths and if we were to meet Manly again.

Maubs for SKD, then we can keep G Unit on the bench.
Maubs has to be there and he does everything SKD does, but better

Such a shame if it is Napa, had a great banner idea for him

I think with Cordner back they will keep both Maubs & guerra on the bench

My Question is Mortimer hasnt been offering much lately. Wud he be sacrificed?

Liu has done nothing wrong. He's been outstanding.

                              We just have immense depth.

I suppose MLK does have experience.
