So melb rank 1 on differential

    then chooks,souths and manly.
Roosters/storm need to play again for this stat sheet to be completed, guess we'll have our chance, but the way storm are going, the knights could make it

Well picked up SO66! manly were taken back exactly 10m in defense and many times allowed to move up in defense early thus being offside each time and allowed to get away with it! This played a 'HUGE' part in our attack being stifled as manly were up in our face all the time and we had no room to move in resulting in us making zero line breaks!! This also then helped them to slow down our play the balls as we could get no momentum in attack!!

We on the other hand were often taken back 13m in defense, allowing manly more room to move in attack and helping them to get faster play the balls which resulted in them making those line breaks by the wolfman. With this bull$hit happening with the refs taking us back that extra 3m and the 12 - 5 bull$hit penalty count against us, allowed manly to make 614 more meters than us. ben cummins is a f**kwit!!

Robbo should organize someone to monitor the 10m by the refs with a computer program and then present the results to the NRL and ask for an explanation??
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

      Here's looking at you, kid.

        Absolute bullcrap...

I was at the front of the members on the halfway line and what you have said is a lie..

Both teams could have been pinged for offside/going too early in nearly every set yet the refs let the game flow..

Manly played an incredibly good defensive game as well as us.

You have preconceived ideas before a whistle is blown which clouds your judgement..

        Sorry for being so frank.

Yes Jennings Vs Lyons was the problem, Lyons showed what was needed to be done by the class back in the side, you go looking for the ball at every opportunity, not sit back and wait for the ball to come to you. He needs to get more involved, to put his stamp on a game, you cant get miracle 70 meters tries every game, sometimes you have to work for them, they don't get gifted to you. He has been quiet for a couple of weeks now, so after the layoff this week, he needs to fire up, and put in more.

i think people really need to look at the manly game in context.

You had the 2 best attacking and defensive sides all year face each other.

it was either going to be a high scoring affair or a down in the trenches, defending the line type game..... As we can see it was the latter.

Both sides had missed opportunities due to lack of proper execution and poor ball handling, i don't think it can be said that our attack is a concern.

The fact is, we played the game that presented infront of us. In the end, we scored what we needed to get the victory, that is all that is required.

If our attack and defence has us winning by 1 or 100 in the finals, it doesn't matter. it's all sudden death now......

Agree with this. At the same time, i don't feel like our side properly utilises our backs in attack compared to some other teams. We seem to rely a lot on our edge backrowers

That was a first class performance.
Just? Lyon put his winger away 4 times.

He absolutely tore up Jennings and Tupou.

We cant rely on just defence against Storm and Souths , we were very lucky Stewart was out last week otherwise the result would of been very different. In the big games we need to mix up our attack, I'm guessing around 20-24 points will need to be achieved to beat the other three title contenders.
Nah we really don't. We need to continue doing what has worked for us all season and that's playing right up the middle on the back of our powerful forwrad pack and Jake Friend. In the weeks that we struggled leading up to the Souths game our biggest issue was playing with too much width and trying to go around other teams.

We're not Manly, in fact we're nothing like them. Trying to copy how they attack would be ridiculous.

This exact thread came up when we beat Brisbane 8-0, then we went on to score more points than any other side in the comp.

Lets not make ridiculous comments based on ONE game.

Our biggest issue on Saturday was not our attack it was our inability to control field position to put us in good attacking positions. Having a fit Moa who can play more than 20 minutes, getting JWH back, getting Cordner back & having got playing minutes into MK and LOD in the past fortnight after both had extended breaks on the sideline is going to result in stronger go forward and thus better control of field position.

Our only concern is holding onto the pill.

We complete our sets and more often than not we score points.

                    It's as simple as that.

We need to get the ball in the air in the in-goal.
How many times has Toups done an up there cazaly in-field this year easily clearing the opposition only to be tackled or trying to tap the ball back? Get the freaken bombs in the in-goal and he is just about top try scorer. The guy is a freak running onto a high ball. He reminds me how Izzy used to do it.

After watching the game again not long ago i noticed possesion in the opposition 20 metre line was 37-9 against us..
I dont care who you are but any team will struggle to score points with those stats!

Oh aren't you precious. Jamie Lyon was awesome against us on Saturday. I don't see how any fan of the game could question it really.

I don't think our combinations and set plays have been great over the last month. I think it's more to do with us having a few injuries and suspensions which has hurt our continuity.

I wouldn't read too much into the other night. We were missing 3 of our best go forward guys and we were in our end all night. You get Jared back, hopefully Boyd and big Sam coming off the bench I'm telling you no one will stop us.

Having watched the game from directly behind the tryline With all due respect Glenn Stewart deserves plenty of credit for 2 wonderful offloads in the 1st half with someone rapping around the back making numbers for the outside backs On two occassions in the 1st half Stewart slipped magical balls which gave the outside men such as Lyon space and caused indecision in our outside backs It was hardly Lyon tearing Jennings to shreds one on one More a combination of good teamwork by Manly to get Lyon with room to move
