Brass should be in front of Harris too..

Him & Fat Hodgo would be my centres..

If we go all the way this year then i'd swap Jenko in for Fat Hodgo..

Anasta at fullback over Mini. koops and watts fighting for the hooker spot and a tie between protheroe, orford, and sandy Campbell for a wing. Shane wherret has the other wing spot.

Brass and Harris would definitely the starting centre pair, they are best centre pairing I have ever seen playing for the Roosters.
Spoilt for fullbacks-Fairfax, Schubert, Walker, Mini, Phillips to name a few but one who rarely gets a mention is Marty Gurr, one of the safest fullback I have ever seen and was so good leaping up for Kevin Hastings bombs and planting them down for 3 and 4 pointers.

John Chicka Ferguson also gets an honourable mention on the wing, just ashame he played for us during a bad period, one of the best try scorers I have ever seen.

I know he was only here a year, but jnr mullins would push for one of those teams, I also thought junee and jorgenson were pretty freaky wingers for us.

Also slippery morris, thats where my memories of the chooks starts from.

For me there is too many flavours of the month.
If you include one hit wonders, how could you not have Brett Mullins, 17 tries in 26 games and a prem. SBW is a big call, is he a Rooster? Jennings, JWH, Cordner, Friend and Maloney have the potential to be in the first team but still have awhile to go.
To me the greatest team doesn't mean the best player at the high of his career, its means players that had great talent, bleed for the club and were loved by the fans.
To include players like Myles and Fulton leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Id rather see Cross, Hegerty, Crocker or Flannery ahead of them. What about Nigel Gafey for f***'s sake.

Having a reserves bench seems a little superfluous for this exercise.

Better to have two teams 1-13 and a bench of 'honorable mentions'.

BTW James Maloney in front of Bomber Peard is madness.
It's scientifically impossible for Easts to be in Souths' shadow when there's daylight between them and us.
                Easts to win

If we go on sentiments, you can include Hegarty, flannery and brendan hall, but no chance they make the great teams. IMO hodges is one of the best centers I have seen play, and at the moment I would put walker in over maloney.

tough team to put together except for the elder posters who can remember watching that seventies team. So ill take their judgements on this one.

I think he did a pretty good job with the teams. I'm the same and liked John Brass, but also have a question mark over Craig Wing. The hooker position has probably changed more than any other in the game since 1970. I can't go past Elwyn Walters and Johnny Lang from the old style hookers. I also think Jake Friend is pushing up into Craig Wing territory, but I can live with Wingy.

Interesting that an early poster had Brett Mullins in his team, but then questioned the right of SBW to be there asking whether he was a 'Rooster'....Mullins only played one year in our colours and whilst he was very good, he didn't have the impact SBW has had. Sonny-Bill is a must in any best of team in my opinion

I agree all players who have ever worn the mighty Roosters jersey whether it 1 or 300 is eligible
As for hooker , how about Jeff Masterman ???

Wow what a group of players have fond memories of the players across this era have to move Hugh Mcgahan into the first 17.
