His entire passing motion is backwards including his hands. Very similar to his pass against the Dragons at Kogarah that lead to the first try. I think Beau Scott impeding his follow through makes it look worse.

The telling point with the pass to Jennings is how close he 'loads' the ball to his hip. The Tupou pass its 'loaded' further away from his hip. When you start/load the pass from your hip your hands can only go forward, when away from your hip your hands can go straight and back-you can see the effect on the elbows. From the hip your elbows tighter, away from the hip your elbow is away from the body. The Tupou pass is fine. The pass to Jennings is line ball at very best, and I am ok with them calling it forward.

Either way they're beautiful passes and skill personified because both passes were determined by the runner and defender. Maloney had more room to work in as DT was deeper and no close defender, where as Jennings was flatter/closer to the line, as well as the defender being a presence.
