It’s an interesting analogy; I’ve had this discussion (arguments more likely over several beers) many times with a few friends over a few sports as to who is under the most pressure when it counts.
In Soccer, when a penalty kick is about to be taken, my argument was the kicker was under the most pressure because he was expected to kick the goal – hence the favouritism. Yet the argument against was he (the kicker) was so full of confidence was how could he miss. To that I said if he was that cocky it would come back to bight him on the backside. I don' think that will be the case with the Roosters.
In Cricket, when coming in to bat who would be under the most pressure? Michael Clarke or Nathan Lyon? Surely if Lyon makes runs it’s a bonus whereas Clarke is expected to.
Therefore, based on what I believe I’ll say the Roosters are under (slightly) more pressure because they are favourites. In saying that we have come from 13th last year whereas Manly have been there, done that so there’s not a lot in it.
That’s not a get out clause, I just think the Roosters will handle the pressure and will win by 13 points regardless.
