  • Have the Roosters double booked themselves today?

Just having a look at todays schedule. The GF luncheon starts at 1pm at the Star on Fox Sports (live) and the team is due on stage at Tumbalong Park at 2.15.

Wonder if they'll be there in time or this is somewhat of a gaffe?

Gee today is a write off from a preparation point of view.
Luncheon (what happened to the breakfast ?), then Tumbalong Park in the afternoon, then I guess this evening players will be booked for appearances on The Footy Show and Game Plan shows tonight.

GF week is pretty much a write off in terms of prep...its jam packed.

The real challenge for the coach is having the guys soak it up and then be ready mentally on the day to perform.

The park isn't that far away from the Star anyway, Jennings would make it there in an instant.

Anyone actually going to any of the festivities?

They just copped a tongue-lashing on talk radio from one male fan.

              2GB...he was going off like a saturn rocket...almost screaming with outrage about;
"no more autographs", "it was a joke...they had Minichiello, Pearce, and Maloney on stage for about 2 minutes each...that was it"..."we would've loved to have.....they want the fans to, we bought $.....of .....at Peter Wynn's Score......."
I couldn't understand all he was saying he was shouting so much.

              Not a good look.
Better to have no function than botch it up.
Could be a genuine fan, or a Souths fan making trouble?

              Maybe it's the NRL's fault.
Raaay said at the weekend that "they couldn't organise a chook raffle".

              More callers now.

"The Roosters were only there for about 5 minutes, then they were on the bus and gone.
There was a red carpet but that wasn't used, the players came from behind the stage. Fans had come from the Blue Mountains, Central Coast etc.

Manly weren't there for very long either.

Other teams were represented, Souths etc.

Some Italian tourists wandered over and asked what was going on.
It was explained to them, they wandered away saying "we get more people to Sunday lunch that they got here".

This type of thing has happened before with the Roosters, they don't always get what's required.

Not sure why he is directing his anger at the Roosters, the NRL are the ones that have organised both of these events. If I was playing on Sunday I wouldn't want to hang around there either. It was tough enough listening to Warren Smith ask the same questions of the same players at the luncheon.

                  Agreed.
A coaches headache trying to keep the players focussed on what they have been doing all year.

                  Stuff the NRL.

There must be still GF tickets not sold?
"I'm a Manly supporter, Many supporters do travel, I went to the 2011 GF in which Manly played an out of Sydney team, and it was sold out".

My guess is that Roosters supporters already bought GF tickets months ago...and the ones who didn't are boycotting the GF because of the cost of the tickets.

Just did an experiment with buying tickets from Ticketek. Take from it what you will but in the silver Roosters supporter section I'm able to get 8 seats in a row behind the posts while in the Manly areas I am only able to get 2 seats in a row in their silver section.

It's a wonder any fans bought tickets at the prices being demanded.

Obviously the lesson to be learnt from this year is that if you buy a GF Final ticket in July when they first go on sale, and your team doesn't make it, you likely won't be able to sell it to anyone and will either have to attend the game or "do your money cold".

IMO Thurs is too late to be having a fan day in GF week.
And, is it really necessary to be having fan days in GF week at all.
The GF lunch should've been enough distraction for the players/clubs.
