  • SBW didn't show up until there was 10 minutes to go

Sonny was awful first half. He came good with 10 minutes to go when Manly had their two front-rowers and Watmough off the field.

    - Bob McCarthy 7/10/2013
That offload for Maloney to set up the third try, that linebreak leading up to the 4th try that sealed the game, the fantastic bomb defusal near the posts, his excellence defence & his continual yardage carries all happened in the last ten minutes? Really Bob? I mean I was a nervous wreck in the final 10 minutes and it felt more like an hour but even my recollection of the game is better than that, a few too many whilst watching the game maybe? Or were you just too busy choking back on those Souffs tears?

    BUT WAIT, it gets better!

"Would you give it to Maloney?" McCarthy said. "What did he do? Twice he got caught with nothing to do, and he put the ball in the air and they scored a try. He was cornered. That was luck. You can't give a Churchill Medal for that, or for kicking four goals.

    - Bob McCarthy 7/10/2013
Yeh a hand in 3 of the 4 tries, you can't give a Clive Churchill medal for that It's just 'lucky' he played well.

"I think Sam Moa was possibly their best player, but he played 45 minutes. You can't give a bloke a Churchill Medal for that. But that 45 minutes was quality."

    - Bob McCarthy 7/10/2013
Why not? Did DCE really have more than 45 minutes of quality football?

    Well said.

Bob McCarthy is a sad relic of the past.

A miserable **** who is stuck in the 70s.

Exactly how does this man still have clout in the game? Farcical.

Didn't two other geriatrics have to agree with his tripe for it to go to DCE?

SBW was missing in action till about 30 minutes to go, but he had a hand in the two important Roosters trys. He did enough to win us the game even if he did have a poor first half!!

DCE deserved the Churchill medal, for anyone who argues otherwise doesnt know football. He was the best on the field by far and was dangerous every time he touched the ball. We had no real answers for him.

5 great goals, under immense pressure in the biggest game of the year.

                We won by 8.
He only kicks one goal, we go into extra time...and maybe lose.

I hate comments like that. Its the same as saying anyone who disagrees with my opinion doesn't know what they are talking about. Why not just say that in your opinion Cherry-Evans was a deserved winner and let other people have theirs.

I would also suggest we must have come up with some answers for DCE, after all, we won the game not Manly.

It was COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE for this fat bag of wind to say anything derogatory about ANYONE, let alone members of the premiership winning team. How dare he? He's supposed to be an independent adjudicator in an award. He should make his decision and then shut the f*&k up.

He should have nothing to do with this or any other award ever again. He should retire to a dim corner of Redfern park and masturbate with all the other bitter Vermin supporters as they contemplate the distant memories of victories now almost half a century old.

Apologies, that is my opinion. DCE was in my opinion the best individual on the field. We played better as a team and that is why we were able to beat them.

Kite was on the field when SBW made that break and he ran straight past Watmough.

Also Mason and Kite have won CC medals at prop and didn't play a full game.

The guy is just a sad bitter wanker, just like the rest of the lol@souffs scum.

On watching the game again closely Moa was our best. ****ING CHAMPION!

Gotta agree with your last quote, Moa was our best all night. Consistently making good meters and having an impact.

SBW was not missing in action , he was everywhere, he was the guy that slammed Tafua's arm and nearly disloged the ball from his arms as he put it down. He was the one that backed up SKD on his run to the right hand corner and was there to pick it up when SKD rolled it back, sized up the situation, passed it to Maloney who then put up a brilliant kick in the opposite corner for Tupou to score.

He made mistakes in the 1st half because he was trying too hard, also I was sitting right in front at the moment late in the first half when he got a brilliant ball to Mini who was taken down before he received the pass which the referee let go as he did with many things that Manly did to the Roosters, so yeah by SBW standards wasn't his best half of football but he made a huge impact and helped get the Roosters on the board for the first try.

As for DCE he didn't do much apart from some brilliant play 10 mins in the first half, after that the Roosters took over and were leading 20-18 with 19 mins to go. Where was he then for Manly ? He did not win the game for them , his performance had no influence on the result, Maloney, SBW, Jennings, Moa and Friend all had a solid claim for CCM and would have been far more deserving of it than DCE.

This is an award he will always associate with as being a loser. I don't think you know anything about football if you think he deserved it, the most dangerous Manly player was Kieran Foran IMO, he looked more dangerous than DCE over the course of the game and not just a 10min burst.
