If you get the CC medal for running side ways and doing nothing then SKD shouldve got it for sure and I say that in a nice way

A kiwi or pom has never won the award I'm led to believe.

It's selected by the national selectors. 2 QLD 1 womanly.

DCE firmed in the betting as the fav for the award right up to 1/2 time when betting was suspended.

IMO whoever wins the award is selected in the Aussie team, happens every year.

They wanted DCE. The only way to justify him instead of Baloney was to give him the award.

The only people defending it are the media types that death rode us all year.

          All the neutrals were stunned.

          The FlogPen .

          You know it makes sense.

He'll stay for sure Brain. Just my opinion. But I'd like to bet that he will. Have a look at him singing the team song on the dais. He's loving it more than anyone.

DCE deserved the Churchill medal, for anyone who argues otherwise doesnt know football. He was the best on the field by far and was dangerous every time he touched the ball. We had no real answers for him.
I hope your not the disliked member of the chookpen now for those comments. DCE played well but in my opinion he doesn't deserve the ccm because his performance didn't win manly the grand final and to say that anyone that disagrees with your opinion doesn't no footy makes you sound like your up yourself because I've been watching footy since I was a little kid and I know footy

In hindsight he was extremely humble about it. I watched the post-match media conference today... Toovey, DCE and Lyon were humble and accepted that we won fair and square.

DCE said he didn't think he deserved the medal because the 'stereotype' is that MOM is awarded to the winning team and he didn't feel he played well enough to win. He said that when they were up 18-8 he knew he had to lift his game in order to win and failed to do so. His final statement was something like 'I feel honoured by the recognition but it's worth nothing compared to a premiership ring...'

I hate Manly but they were humble and DCE shouldn't have been put in a position where they obviously knew he'd be the centre of controversy and criticism (including loud boos... admittedly from me... while he was accepting his medal).

                      ---

FWIW will this begin a pattern? My view is that players from losing teams should be awarded MOM a lot more regularly. Not saying I love him but a player like Hayne giving his best and creating tries/energy out of nowhere amongst a bunch of flat, unmotivated, wooden spoon goons is often the 'best and fairest' on the field because of how deep they are digging.

If the stereotype didn't exist, would we be more accepting of the fact that DCE lost and his prize is worthless compared to a premiership ring, but he dug deep in a losing team. The Roosters played more as a team so had less individual standout players throughout the season (as shown by the Dally Ms). To me this is more important than say Todd Carney's Dally M (which may or may not be remembered in a big way).

If this is going to set a pattern then cool but IMO the panel has a LOT of explaining to do. They p!ssed off everybody (including DCE) by throwing him at us like chook feed with an award he didn't think he deserved (but had to accept regardless, then be humble about rather than proud as punch). He also copped the predictable boos that were directed at the panel (who have since been quiet)... why did they do this to him?

The fans deserve a thorough write-up on why the 'stereotype' was not followed during an emphatic Roosters victory where many Roosters were deserving of the honours.

I'm not taking anything away from how he played, DCE played well but in my opinion many roosters players deserved the ccm and if anything james Maloney played better than DCE with 3 try assists, a line break....

For a team to lose by 8 points the MOM in a losing side really needs to have been head and shoulders ahead of any player in the winning team.

Whilst DCE was highly influential in the game his kicking game as has been noted was not outstanding . He persisted with aerial raids to wingers that have been safe all season and did not extract the repeat sets his team needed . Manly only had 28 uses of the ball in the game.

More importantly both halves played two sideways in attack in the last 30 mins . In the last 15 mins when both RTS and JWH made errors, DCE did not win the game for Manly . Manly tried to go around the Roosters which was a shocking tactic.

Maloney was involved in three tries, produced a huge play in causing Foran to lose the ball and kicked superbly including a high pressure goal to take us to 24 -18.

He should have been the MOM given the result and the fact there was no absolute standout .

DCE is all class though and showed enormous quality in how he carried himself when presented with the award and asked about it later. Roosters fans who were booing him should have a look at themselves .

No one was booing DCE, they were booing the decision and the clowns who made that decision. And yes i was booing the decision as well.
