yeah I heard that, I had been told he had little or no say in selections, which positions players played etc..

Or was it a case of players not wanting to listen?

Funny thing is - our sg ball have won 2 years in a row. Hope the coach - Joel Grieg - is kept.
Fortunately, Joel knocked back the 2010 U20's coaching job @ Souths and remained our SG Ball coach.
He's a good up & coming coach who the club must not lose to a rival club.
If Scott Murray has another dismal season with the U20's i wouldn't at all be surprised to see Joel step up as his replacement. Afterall, over the next couple of years a stack of his SG Ball players will be starring in the U20's team .

He actually had full control but because of misdemeanours he was changing the playing squad right up to the last minute before games which meant they then turned in substandard performances

He wasn't allowed to discipline them.

That culture crept through the whole club.

And who, stopped him from disciplining them JT?

The Club did by removing him as coach and allowing them the players to continue building their culture that made us the laughing stock this year!!!!

Who though is the club? The board? ie Nick.. Canavan who was CEO at the time.. not meaning to nit pick but the club is a pretty vague answer. Canavan has gone, replaced by Noyce and things have gone from bad to worse so perhaps it wasn't Brian.. Basically it seems Nick and the board really dropped the ball over the past couple years and have not focussed at all at what is/was happening at the club and left the lunatics to run the asylum.. At least with Smith here we know that will no longer happen.

Football management is who and they would have to have the backing of the CEO or it would never happen and it was more to do with his results than what he was trying to do.

So you know it was Paul Young our ex Newtown coach who was Football Manager

Troy Rovelli was the football manager in 2008 so the Lam coaching issue had nothing to do with Paul Young who took over in 2009.. Given that the discipline issue continued to occur under both Canavan/Rovelli and Noyce/Young I think a portion of the overall blame has to go a little higher.. Sure these two teams contributed but if they are unable to do their jobs properly (I believe Noyce was hired more for his business acumen) then action needs to be taken. Which it has as Young is gone too from memory.. However Noyce remains.. I would like to know what he has contributed to the club since his appointment because his list of achievements is thinner than his hairline.

I think you will find that Rovelli left us a the begining of 2008 from memory but not 100% sure. I thought Young took over early 2008
Noyce's achievements are actually quite large mostly begining with Lack of action and the fact we have imploded severely since his appointment.

Rovelli was punted at the end of 2008..

Politis's comments come on the back of a raft of staff changes - including the shock resignation this week of chief executive Brian Canavan - although he denied speculation the club was trying to fill a $2 million hole in its budget. It is believed the Roosters are in no hurry to replace Canavan, while it has also emerged football manager Troy Rovelli has been made redundant and will finish on October 31.

Faced with a directive to slash $2 million from the football department, new CEO Steve Noyce had no choice but to risk social get-togethers without Southworth on hand to supervise.

Noyce was also forced to sack football manager Troy Rovelli, leaving the Roosters light-on for staff to monitor off-field behaviour.

Told you I wasn't 100% sure Just that Young seemed to be doing quite a bit of Media stuff like pre game and half time reports for the Roosters which made me suspicious of what his role was.

Wasn't it his hard nose approach with the U20s players in 2008 that led to his sacking and subsequent "promotion" to assistant coach in first grade?

I've always been a fan of his but he was never going to get the top gig at the Roosters.

He has made the correct choice in my opinion.
