    There you go.

There was a bunch of our "stars" ****ing around. missing training and not taking it seriously.

    Lam wanted to drop them.

    He was overruled.

One of them has graduated to really embarass us.

The truth is a funny thing.

People believe what they want to believe.

Take this version as gospel because I was there right in the middle of the losing streak and actually saw the disallusion first hand.

      a) 6 players were not taking the footy seriously. Cherrington the "brat" was the worst offender. Look where he ended up.
Lam wanted to drop him and 5 others because his constant warnings were not being taken seriously. He approached Canavan about the situation. Canavan said quote "you have to play them." Who would have given Canavan(a man who never thought or acted for himself) that directive??

      The rotation policy.
      The reason.
      We have 2 junior clubs.
What happens to the players that dont play in the U20s??
If you have a squad of 25 or more only 2 players are allowed to go back and play park footy per junior club.
That means 16 play toyota cup.
      4 play park footy.
and at least 5 players do zero.

A big fat zero week after week.

Self admittedly the concept wasnt working well according to the coach and needed a revamp.

As soon as Lam arrived Fittler distanced himself from him.
Lam was lucky to speak to Fittler for an hour or two a week.
Fittler preferred the company and direction of others.

      Lam was humstrung.

One day that man will end up a hell of a coach.
If he truly grasps the ideal of principle centred leadership he could become anything.

Ask yourself why would a man who was sacked from an under 20s job and an assistant at a wooden spoon team land another prize job???

It seems myself and Wayne Bennett agree on a couple of things.
a)Lam has potential and is loyal
b)The roosters are a club built on ego maniacs and buffoons. Politis has disappointed me to the point of giving up on the joint.

Actually if Lam was allowed to do what he wanted with the U20s they would have done a hell of a lot better than they did. The problems of the 20s are the players not the coach.

Does this chap have an official role with the club?

He has an award named after him and gave a speech at the awards nights. What's his precise role/influence?

I was under the impression he was just a board member but if he is using his position to influence the team and selection the we should get rid of him quick smart!!!

Unless I'm mistaken, the chap Brain is referring to is not a board member.

Lam was certainly not to blame for the 2008 NYC team, I can confirm that. Even though he was the coach, he didn't have any say in picking his team and in fact, never once picked the team he wanted to take the field. The club had a mentality that the NRL team was the only team at the club, and often delayed selection of certain players such as Ben Jones, Anthony Cherrington, Martin Kennedy and Stanley Waqa. These guys would train with the full-time squad for most of the week and would be told a day or two before game day that they had to go back to the NYC. Sometimes they didn't train with the NYC team at all, just playing on the weekend because the NRL coaching staff would not release them to go back. Therefore, when these players went back to the NYC for the weekend, to them it was more disappointment because they had not made the NRL team and felt the NYC was below them. This explains the terrible form of these players last year. Lam approached the CEO Brian Canavan about the situation and also mentioned that certain players were not pulling their weight within the team and needed to be dropped. He was rejected and told that first grade were the priority and that he had to do his best in the situation. Even though Canavan told him this, it came from higher up. Lam realised that he could not drop certain players, so he instead tried to discipline the entire squad by scheduling sessions on a Sunday etc. and the players did not like that, leading to a player revolt. This was driven by the senior players in the NYC team and therefore they didn't respect the coach as they should of. From what I know, there were players that were out partying the night before games and Lam caught on with this, dropping a few players on his own accord, and he ended up getting sacked for it. He took initiative of his own team and paid the price for it. Like the NRL team, there are a few bad eggs in the NYC who don't understand discipline. Discipline leads to culture and that's where the problem lied for last season's NYC failure. Once Scott Murray took over, he was told to do whatever he pleased, but to get them out of the slump. This meant he could field whichever side he wanted and suprisingly he chose something similar in the last few games to what Lam would have chosen, and the results spoke for themselves. This is the team Lam wanted to field, yet never got the chance.
