The same thing could be said about Finch

it's a thing a lot of our fans have against our halfbacks

I remember being on the wall in 2000 or somewhere back then defending Paul Green against a lot of unwarranted crap

A fair percentage of our fans would only be happy if we had a halfback as good as Andrew Johns

I don't think even Jo-E would keep the Roosters faithfull happy when it comes to halfbacks.

The position's been a poisoned challice since the retirement of the great Horrie Hastings.

trust me, it was warranted.. Green was crap.. We only won in 2002 when Green broke down in Round 1.

                No it's a piece of sh*t.

Seriously, I could'nt give a damn about SOO, and have'nt for a lot of years.Lam was only in that arena by default anyway. The only thing that matters to me is the Roosters. If Easts did'nt exist I would'nt follow league at all.

Lam performances for our club used to frustrate me.Great to see him rabbit or magpie hunting when we were up by 20, but when the going got tough............
He was quick on the field, and quick to recognise pain.

Having said that, I'm sure he's a great bloke. But he's on a hiding to nothing now.Any success achieved by St. Merge will all be put down to one person.

Eddie you keep changing the rules to suit yourself.

                  Thats cool.

As far as being a great bloke.......hes alright.
But I do see something in him as a future coach.
It just a shame he got slandered without people knowing the facts, especially in the bogus Under 20s job.

As far as a coaching career it looks terribly on his resume.
But im sure he learned a hell of a lot.

                    Me no change rules.
You can only adress points like the SOO one as they crop up.
Speaking of rules, rugby league has suffered enough changes in that area, but we know at least two things will never change.
Warren Smith will always be an idiot, and you can never say anything negative about Lam as a player to one of his fans.
I will say that Lam has every chance of being a better than average coach. He certainly would've been a better bet than Fittler.

                      One premiership in ten years?

He didn't do that much right either.

In fact, in all years to 2000 he was a finals dud.

In 2001 he was so bad he wanted to quit footy.

And what Trew said is correct. Lam was on a hiding to nothing with Gus - who had no time for him and was constantly trying to replace him with someone else (John Simon for example or Craig Kimmorley LOL).

I think you're being a little harsh but that's cool.

In 1996 he was on one leg and didn't finish the match against the Dragons. In 1997 he also had a groin injury. In 1998 he was instrumental in both our semis wins only to suffer a rib cartliage injury late in the Knights game. He was a passenger against the Broncos. In 1999 he was the only player that took on the Dragons. This was the first time I lost faith in Lam (who I still rate one of my favourite Roosters of all time). We all know what he did in 2000 and he looked disinterested in 2001 under Murray.

2003-04 he had the great Brett Finch. You know the rest.

Did Lam play for the Roosters in 2001??

I thought he left after the GF in 2000 to go to Wigan and Paul Green was the Roostes No. 7 in 2001.

But I could be (and probably am) wrong.

                            Probably.

But the record is not very flattering.

                              Your'e right.

And the main reason we won the comp in 2002 was Green getting injured and out for the season in the fist game of the year.
