  • Another record

The almost unbelievable fact that The Roosters won the penalty count in the GF has masked another record-breaking achievement by the boys - the biggest negative penalty differential on record.

This year we received 62 less penalties than we were given. This beat the previous record holder - St George's 1982 Wooden Spoon team - which had a differential of -61. (The worst differentials are usually found with teams that finish near the bottom.)

We are the first time ever to win the competition with the competition's worst penalty differential. (Well, at least since 1980... Not sure what the situation was when dinosaurs walked the Earth and Souffs won premierships.)

That is an amazing statistic. Im so bloody happy that we defied history to still win. Next year i hope we don't have to do it that way again. Im hoping we can start to win the penalties , but if we can't, then stuff em' we'll do it the hard way again

Surely being the best team will erase the perception that we are ill disciplined.

we started winning penalty counts after the fallout from the refereeing blunders of the opening round of finals had set in. referees were under the microscope in a big way, everyone pulled their head in and counts were a lot lower than they were all year in general with no one wanting to be another headline the next day.

Amazing. It will be very interesting to see what happens next year. Surely to heavens there will not be a repeat of this stat.

According to that genius from the ABC, that would be a disaster for us. Giving away penalties to our opposition (and hundreds of free metres of field position and repeat sets) is the reason why we performed well this year.

Mindblowing statistic , just imagine what our points differential would have been if we had been given a fairer go by the refs ?
Opps, sorry thats right as 66 alluded to ,it would have destroyed Robbo's secret tactics

Sorry - I made a mistake there. St George ran 4th last that year. I was looking at the wrong column of data.
