Roy would also make a great captain in a few years.

Was disappointed when he got injured... wanted to see more of him.

I reckon he'll play in the backrow off the bench, he runs great lines.

Saw him out on the town last night. Seemed like a good quiet kid, kept to himself. Definately doesn't seem to be have the party boy attribute which is great.

Although i don't doubt that some of our first graders may change that.

He could play centres, backrow, or lock imo.

Hence, the Flannery impact man off the bench.

I remember back in the backend of 2003, when Flannery returned from a nasty injury. He would pop up all over the field, bursting through holes on the fringes of the ruck, as well as straight up the middle, simply by hitting the right lines at pace. He was never the biggest or strongest, but he knew where to run and how to hit the gap.

Just checking on NRLstats, he returned from injury in Round 19, played all but one game between Round 19 and the grand final (11 games total) - and in that short period, he scored 8 tries, broke the line 12 times, set up 4 linebreaks and 3 tries, and made 30+ tackles in 9 of those 11 games. Flanno also had a great run of form at the backend of 2004 as well.

That is what we need from Symonds. He shouldn't be groomed as Fitzgibbon's replacement, because Symmo's biggest asset is his hole-hitting ability and ballplaying skill. Making him a tackling machine like we tried to make Flannery will null his effectiveness as a linebreaker.

Its the attitude of Symonds together with the respect he gets from the players he plays with that make this kid special. Yes he can play, but we have a few of those that can play but have ****ed up attitudes
