Just when I thought no one could post anything more dumb-founding that Chookies74... bang! You rose to the challenge.

Ha ha, please explain why he'll jump ahead of Liu, Napa and Casty (providing we also keep LOD).
For a start, he needs to stay injury free. He is also not at the same standard in defence as the players above. You haven't seen him in FG. The closest thing you have seen, is him playing in the NSW Cup against certain teams (such as the Cronulla outfit), which have a lot of players with recent/2013 NRL experience, etc. He did not look safe in the defensive line against these better NSW Cup teams.
Please explain why it is so dumb-founding.

I agree, he loves the big hit, but that isn't effective in 1st grade as the chance of missing is too great, his inside defence needs work and he needs to bulk up in the legs. He wasn't ready for 1st grade in 2013.

Of course I haven't seen him in First Grade, no one has.

I'm not disagreeing with you that he might see very few games next year, that's a genuine possibility. I'm disagreeing with your comment on his defence.

          His technique is fine, his first up contact is as good as any youngster I've seen come through the club. And it's not like I'm oblivious to his short-comings in defence I've long been a critic of his defence in fact at this time last year I said;

Napa has shown himself to be a much more well rounded player as he's very good in defence along with being able to make big metres. I think both are still a year off first grade, not that I wouldn't give each a few games next year but I don't see either being up to it just yeat for different reasons.
I've since changed my tune over him, he's far more efficient than he was last year and he comes in as 2nd and third man to complete tackles now which he wasn't doing in the 20's.

Watching him in the NSW Cup early this season really sold me on him, he's something special and he could be a real x-factor for us in the years going forward.

Hes special alright.Anybody doubting it should watch that try he scored for NSW under 20s.For a man his size to sprint away from backs like he did really impressed me.Ive never seen a front row forward the size of him do that.He will play a fair bit of 1st grade next year imo.

Evans was involved in the contact sessions during Grand Final week and from what I saw was holding his own.

He'll play quite a bit of firsts next year.

In the trial against the Rochdale Hornets on the weekend Kane switched between 2nd row & lock....scored a try, set one up and pulled off a monster hit.
He's bulked up too playing at about 113-116kg. Can't wait to see him play in the upcoming WCup games. Rick Stone will play him off the bench which will suit him.

Yep this world cup will definitely be his test to see if he can handle this level.

Really looking forward to seeing him play, and im sure if he stands out in the next few weeks he'll be pushing for a spot on the bench next year

I hope he plays anough games to keep him interested while we consolidate the rest of our roster.
if he keeps fit, him and Napa will be in our pack for a long time.
If Jake can increase his game time to 80mins like Cam Smith and Farrah we wont need Morts (even though I like the guy), we'll have another forward position on the bench. Evans will be better than Liu. Casty is an unknown quantity. Moa has maybe two years left. o'Donnell has one year left. We need to keep Evans and Napa around the squad so they dont get tempted to go elsewhere.

Like Premiers before us we maybe salary cap victims of our own success. If Kane Evans shows a little bit of potential there is no reason why other teams wouldn't put in a long term contract worth more that we cannot match which is what i am worried about.

I hope he plays more and shows potential but not to increase his market value which keeps us out of reach to sign in.

Positive - We know SBW is leaving after this new season to distrubute cap to our future stars.

                        Get em Kane.

                        Go Easts

That's the real beauty of it all, SBW leaving. We don't need to sign someone to cover for him, with players like Jenko, Roger, Maloney, Cordner etc. we have enough talent as it is to still be a threat. So with his left over money we just re-sign our promising young ones.

What's this myth that Moa only has two years left in him?

He's only 28 I believe. Still has 4-5 years him! Especially given the low mileage.

Indeed, at 34 he can still run hard and hit hard. Especially when he's played in a lesser competition for most of his career.
