The return of Canavan and Robinson is significant.

Canavan recruited Robinson when he was a front-rower at St Gregory's of Campbelltown in the mid-1990s.

Craig Walker, who returns to the club after a stint at the Warriors, trained the coach as a 16-year-old. Politis describes Canavan as "the most experienced sporting administrator in the game". Sitting alongside Robinson in the coach's box will be club icon Craig Fitzgibbon.

"We're getting the Rooster people back," Politis says.

There is no doubt that bringing the Rooster people back helped us win the premiership. Think it was during the post match of the grand final Robbo or someone revealed how happy everyone at the club was at the return of the "Rooster People." Robbo and his assistants Fitzy and Paul Green are Rooster People that Politis brought back. He got Ricko on the board, Canavan back as CEO. The returns were a key factor in our premiership glory.

Playing a brutal grand final with a broken jaw because you didn't want to let your teammates down. That's Rooster Culture. SKDsy is one of the Rooster people. He helped us get that premiership. Letting him go for short term gain is akin to spending big money on Mason and Ogre. Bringing in non-Roosters in the hope of getting the job done. It won't work. A part of the reason Manly have been a successful club is they have for many years retained many of their great players in roles within their club and with very good success.

Players such as Mini should be utilised within the club after retirement. What about Adrian Lam as 20's coach.

I wonder how many games it will take for the same people who are praising him like he's the second messiah to turn their backs on him when they get the SKD of the last 3 years next year, he's a rocks and diamonds player thats offered 80% rocks to the 20% diamonds since his last contract. From what I understand is that he's playing for another contract next year so we may see a FPN effort to secure another one. My opinions on SKD may come across as I dislike the guy I don't as he's a good clubman and he goes out of his way for the fans but i also have a good memory of the last 3 years also.

totally agree if u want to keep winning u have to keep tweeking the team and walking the weakest link.

I know Ronnie Palmer has been around a long time, but I recall his last few years with us many on here were critical of his training or conditioning of the players. Can you recall that period when we were unable to score points in the second half of games ...it was like the boys just simply ran out of puff each week in the second half of our games and at the time many people were questioning the player's condition and Ronnie Palmer's training methods. I seem recall words/phrases like outdated 'yesterdays man' etc

You can tweak and tweak as much as you like and it can also cause problems. We did a lot of that in the 80's and 90's and got buckleys. Sometimes it's best to keep the team together for another couple of years to get the best. many players in the Raiders were not happy with Flake...how many will feel the same if he comes here and upset the structure and then were back in the same boat. We have a happy group, it would take a 'brave man' to make the call and accept the negative consequences if there are any.

Ronnie Palmers' training methods? I wonder if he whacked the players on the arse with a bat called 'Oscar' if they left their uniforms at home . He was my old P.E. teacher back in the 80s... just thought of a thread...?
