For the 4th time and the more I watch it the more I realise how much better we were than Manly. Sure we got away with a slight forward pass for the SKD try but they got that BS penalty try which was a rubbish decision. All of the other decisions were 50/50 imo. We beat Manly 5 times out of 5 times that is what you call domination and they were the 2nd best team in the comp.

We beat Manly at Brookie, even with JWH sent off.
We kept Manly scoreless in the QF, even with a 12-5 penalty count against us.
We came from 10 points behind to win the Grand Final.

Wolfman's scummy advice to tackle Tupou in the air instead of even pretending to contest the ball was a farce but he didn't care. He just held onto the ball every time and said 'F** you!!! Refs won't penalise you so I just have to try extra hard tonight and give them no reason to fault my ability!'
Manly's tactic was to put a lanky rookie winger under immense pressure from all angles, shake him around and make him lose his head. Not saying he was disrespected, but Tupou's attitude won us the game IMO. Manly had no answers when he towered above them in attack/defence and had sure hands every time. They picked the wrong man to single out as our achilles...
To me Tupou's attitude/style sums up how we beat Manly this year. Every time we played them we were ripped off, but put that behind us and focussed on our own game. This meant that while we could be penalised, those penalties didn't turn into easy tries/brain explosions. Beautiful footy to watch, without doubt THE best GF this century!Comment

Williams take Tupou out in the air, no contest, puts his head down before Tupous at his highest and drives hard. Is this not illegal, taking a player out in the air. What does it take to get a penalty? If Tupou misses the try what happens? If he hurts himself bad what happens? Penalty Try, On Report, Sin Bin/Sent Off or a Manly play the ball?
On another beef. I think players over react with celebrations for too many small things in a game. A player strips the ball and gets away with it and they celebrate like they've put on the hit of the Century or something. Save it for the big stuff or it doesn't mean anything.Comment

I will be watching it many more times. I think it was Phil Gould in one of the lead up matches who described the Roosters as a seriously good team. I have never seen a better team.Comment

Someone made a comment regarding the Jennings try and how someone in the commentary clapped vigorously when the 1st replay was shown... I think it was Gus...??? Well going back to 02, I saw the replay of the Hegarty try and there is a similar clapper in the commentary box. Not sure if Gus was commentating in that game... might have to go back and check.
