Day 4
Scotland 26 defeated Tonga 24
3 Roosters involved in what was a really disappointing first half performance from Tonga who went into halftime trailing 20-4, a much better second half from Tonga but they just couldn't overcome the big deficit in the first half.
Nafe Seluini - 4/10
Scored a try from dummy half but outside of that was just really disappointing, poor decision making, poor service and a few really selfish plays that hurt the team. He played about 45 minutes all up but was a big reason as to why they looked so ordinary in attack and struggled to gain ascendancy in the game.
6 runs, 31 metres, 1 linebreak, 1 try & 16 tackles
Samisoni Lang - 6.5/10
Didn't have a happy night with his goalkicking, only 2/5 of his conversions which hurt them in the end but his general play kicking was very good, some nice little grubbers and found Tupou once with a cross field bomb. He challenged the line all night and got very close on 2 occasions to scoring but just didn't see enough of the ball. Struggled to get good early ball from his hookers all night and despite looking far more dangerous with his last tackle options for whatever reason they continually played to the less impressive halfback.
7 runs, 46 metres, 1 offload, 14 tackles
Daniel Tupou 6.5/10
A solid game without doing anything brilliant, didn't do anything wrong either though. Scored what looked like to me and most Rugby League fans a perfectly legitimate try where he jumped above the pack and used his long reach to ground the ball after landing on the ground but Ashley Klein took it off him because a defender had a fingernail rested on his leg. Took his typically strong runs coming out of their own end but just didn't see enough quality ball and was only given the one opportunity to compete for a cross field kick all night which is just crazy. Largely because they were so intent on playing to the halfback on last tackle who was camped on the right hand side of the field, something they really need to address going forward.
9 runs, 75 metres, 2 tackle breaks, 1 error
Tomorrow USA take on the Cook Islands on Day 5, Two Roosters will be involved in the game; Dylan Napa & Tinarau AronaLast edited by Rooster_6; 10-30-2013, 09:23 AM.

What was the official reason fro the Tupou try being disallowed ? Seeing as you watch the game so intently and love providing analysis surely you must know the official reason given ?
Funny thing was I saw the score on facebook and had a feeling something crazy had happenedWhen you trust your television

I think your score for sel was a bit tuff. I would give him a 6 for his efforts. I thought he was the only one in the halves organizing the pack in attack. his injection in the second half was the means to tongas go forward. kite went missing and fishie had an absolute shocker. I don't think he could have even scratched his bum propery today, the poor bugga.
a very entertaining game.
I personally would have awarded the 80th minute try a try. the tongan got the ball stripped in the act of scoring a try, then the scootsman knocked the ball on , and the ball is left laying on the ground under that player but not touching him, and fishie places his hand on the ball, constituting a try. ooohhh well the first roosters loss today. and sucked in to kane linnnnnet for being sent for the professional foul.1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

Regardless I thought Ashley Klein had a shocker up in the box.

Although the rules on grounding are different in International league so I don't know...
