Didn't have a happy night with his goalkicking, only 2/5 of his conversions which hurt them in the end but his general play kicking was very good, some nice little grubbers and found Tupou once with a cross field bomb. He challenged the line all night and got very close on 2 occasions to scoring but just didn't see enough of the ball. Struggled to get good early ball from his hookers all night and despite looking far more dangerous with his last tackle options for whatever reason they continually played to the less impressive halfback.

      7 runs, 46 metres, 1 offload, 14 tackles

Langi looked classy with every touch. He has a lot of time and is very strong for a half. Some nice kicks too (much better than the halfback). I think the fact he didn't get enough ball was partly his fault though. He should be demanding the ball when he wants it. The part of his game I think he needs to improve is his organisation and communication. There were times in the game when tonga looked rudderless - Langi should've been more proactive in providing direction.

This tournament will be good for him. He has to get used to bossing around the more senior guys.

        Day 5

USA 32 defeated Cook Islands 20

The second massive upset in as many days, 2 Roosters players were on the losing side.

        Tinirau Arona - 6/10
Could've been more involved in attack but when he did take runs his footwork saw him making good yards. Did a lot of the little 1% well like kick chase, pressure on the kicker and got through a bit of work in defence. A solid hit out for Arona.

        8 runs, 70 metres, 23 tackle 0 errors

        Dylan Napa - 7/10
Good game from him, played about 55 minutes all up. USA played very well so the Cook Islands spent a lot of time coming out of their own half but he was very good when carrying the ball. Commentators were very impressed by him, put on a couple of good shots in defence too. All in all, a good game. Their next game against Tonga will be a very good test for him.

        11 runs, 116 metres, 19 tackles, 1 line break, 1 error

No games tomorrow, there's a one day break until New Zealand take on France on day 7 which will see 6 Roosters players involved; Moa, FPN, SBW, RTS, JWH & Casty.

Greg Matterson is the coach of the Jets, he's Terry's brother.

Yeh he's a make shift half so demanding the ball and the organisational side of things definitely don't come naturally too him. I think this World Cup is the last we'll see of him in the halves as he makes the transition to the second row next year, so I'm not really too fussed how he progresses in those areas.

I definitely would like to see his passing game a little more though against some top quality opposition, a good ball playing game for a second rower these days can be so valuable. With teams playing split halves the second rower or fullback basically plays like a 5/8 or traditional inside centre, it's the one area I've still got a few question marks over.

Ok, watched Remi Casty in both games of the World Cup and Im not really impressed with what I have seen. I know he is playing in a shit French team but I'm not sure he can handle NRL from what I see. Gets dominated nearly every hit up and has very poor leg drive once tackled. Don't think his work rate is very high either. Based on those two games I'd have thrown LOD another contract personally.

                      Day 7

New Zealand 48 defeated France 0

Wasn't as convincing as the scoreline suggests, NZ still have a lot to work on and France were right in the game for the first 20 minutes, even the first half they competed quite well just lacked potency in attack.

                      Frank-Paul Nuuausala - 7/10

Scored two tries, the first one a hit and spin from close range and the second one a little bit more impressive from about 15 metres out a solo run. Got good game time, about 40 minutes and his carries were strong. Gave away a soft penalty after making a basic error which was the real low light of his game. A good hit out for FPN though.

                      8 runs, 73 metres, 2 line breaks, 2 tries, 5 tackle breaks & 16 tackles

                      Roger Tuivasa-Sheck - 7.5/10

Got through a lot of the gritty work tonight, lots of yardage carries from his own end but made good metres with every carry. His upper body strength is an underrated facet of his game, he makes good metres after contact and bumps defenders off with ease when he does put his head down. Scored a fairly simple try at the end up had a brilliant try taken of him (unjustly) by Shayne Hayne where he stepped the halfback mid-field and accelerated past every other defender to go in untouched. I think if RTS gets the chance at fullback in 2014 for us he's going to surprise a lot of people with his workrate and his raw strength.

                      14 runs, 154 metres, 1 try, 1 linebreak & 6 tackle busts

                      Jared Warea-Hargreaves - 8/10

I think Kearney had the idea of giving Jared a bit of a rest tonight, he only played the opening 13 minutes before being taken off but like I mentioned earlier France were proving to be tough opposition and JWH was brought on with 8 to go in the second half and played the first 15 in the second half until it was clear NZ had grabbed the upper hand again in large part to JWH & Issac Luke. The stats will show you that Kasiano, Matulino & Eastwood were all very dominant in their yardage games but the majority of those metres came in the final quarter of the game when the result had already been put to bed. When the other forwards were struggling JWH was dominating and really lead for NZ from up front. Another great game from the big fella, they struggled to take him to ground all night and if he wasn't making 10m+ carries he was offloading the ball. 2nd best on ground behind Issac Luke in my opinion. I love how he went looking for Casty

                      12 runs, 129 metres, 3 offloads & 21 tackles

                      Remi Casty - 6.5/10

A much, much more promising performance than in game 1. The overall performance still wasn't great because he was a bit loose with a couple of offloads and made a really poor attempt on Issac Luke in defence for NZ's fifth try although he was struggling with a back injury so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there. However like I mentioned a much more promising performance, he was making metres after contact, he was offloading the ball, his defence was very strong he's got a good technique and goes in low & most impressively had a good battle with JWH in the opening exchanges and held his own. I see why Robbo likes him, he's got a good work rate, a good defensive technique & plays tough, the question for me is if he can come into a structured game plan in the NRL.

                      13 runs, 76 metres, 3 offloads & 18 tackles

Cheers R6, do you know where I could find the full game? I saw a highlights vid but I really want to see RTS's no try.

For those wondering here are the highlights.

remi looks like a fairly big strong looking dude but one thing he needs to take out of his game is the yawnion sqat he does when he packs into the scrum. watch next game and see he bends his knees like the set, ruck game

Once Casty spends time with us I reckon he will be good...

what was achieved with Moa can be done with Casty, he will thrive

                            6.5 is a fair score

JWH, simply dominant with a smiley face

FPN had more game time & thrived, him & JWH were putting Casty through some welcome initiation as they gave him special attention lol

RTS looks to be literally growing up, he's bigger across the torso & shoulders compared to this time last year
