        Day 10

        Samoa 38 defeated PNG 4

That was a really hard game to sit through, PNG were very poor and Samoa pretty much stopped trying after 20 minutes.

        Nene Mcdonald - 6/10

I felt for him, he may as well have been sitting in the crowd when PNG had the ball. The distribution to the 3/4's was just non existent, represented by Nene only having 5 runs for the entire game. He defused the kicks that came his way well and made a couple of good tackles but I can't score him any higher than 6 because he just wasn't involved in the game heavily enough and through no fault of his own.

I do think however that he will figure in the battle for the other wing spot when Mini retires and RTS is fullback. Really tall athletic kid, the club had him down as 192cm at the start of this season but he's probably grown a bit since then. Really good build for a winger, looks good under the high ball and has a strong carry. Definitely one to watch out for imo.

Tomorrow Tonga play the Cook Islands, from the Cook Islands Tinirau Arona & Dylan Napa will be representing the Roosters and from Tonga Nafe Seluini, Samisoni Langi & Daniel Tupou will be representing the Roosters. Should be a good game, both lost their first games in disappointing fashion and it's a do or die game.

Watched the PNG vs Samoa replay just earlier and Leilua ripped them up without really getting out of first gear.

Not just PNG either, he destroyed New Zealand too.

MacDonald made a good tackle on Lafai (?) after a break and showed some strength in throwing him over the sideline. Not much outside of that although Winterstein did score 3 tries down his side.

Letting BJ go was always going to come back and bite us. I don't doubt that he didn't have big attitude problems but he'll undoubtedly be one of those players (just like Tamou) that we let go because of disciplinary reasons that go on to reach great heights. He'll play for NSW in the next two years. And he probably would've shaped as the perfect player to step up and fill the hole that SBW will leave. Sure he isn't anywhere the worker that SBW is, especially with how tight he keeps the defence, but when it comes to raw talent he doesn't have many peers in the game in my opinion. Smith ruined his time here by playing him on the wing. I pray we handle the Moga situation better. Develop his defensive game, work him into our attacking systems to give him time with the ball. We could have a ridiculous backline in 2 years time with RTS, Tupou, Jennings, Moga and MacDonald (who has all the attributes, just needs to work on his defence). Plus Taane Milne if he sticks around who is one of the best young defensive centres going around and has magic footwork and great delivery to his centre.

We're very lucky to have such immense talent coming through with RTS, Tupou, Moga, MacDonald, Jonathan Reuben, Milne, Naughton (who looks a prospect to me), Hastings, Willis Meehan, Evans, Napa, Liu, Taukeahio and Langi all with plenty of wraps from important people. Some of those guys are the most promising players in the country (in their positions) for their age. Mix that with so many players only now hitting their mid 20s that have played around 100 first grade games and it all but ensures that we will maintain a high level of success. Pearce for example will hit around 27 when Hastings comes into grade in the halves and if all goes to play we'll have one of the most promising halves in the comp learning from one of the most experienced (and dare I say he'll be close to the best by that stage in my opinion). Very exciting times ahead for us Rooster fans!!

                for next Cook islands game...

Toulouse stand-off Jonathan Ford comes into the side to partner former Wakefield half-back Isaac John, with Brad Takairangi switching to centre in place of Wigan's Anthony Gelling.

Sydney Roosters' Chris Taripo takes over from Lulia Lulia on the wing

Leilua can go suck a fat one. An A-grade **** who im happy is no longer anywhere near the club.

No chance he'll play for NSW in two years either. You grossly overestimate his talent imo, Yak. He ain't a patch on Jennings that's for sure.

                    • How about the way he stood over the Storm forward when he was knocked out? Came charging in from 30m away to give a concussed player on the floor a spray.

Now I'm very open minded about young players with issues and rap sheets. But a clown doing that in our colours would bring shame to our great jersey.

I've never actively campaigned to **** a player off through complaints to the club, writing letters etc... but if BJ was still here soiling our jeresy with those antics doing then he'd be the first.

                      • ... And all that aside if we didn't get rid of him we wouldn't have Jenko. I know which one I'd prefer

                        • Tommy, I do hope you're not up for signing Ferguson then..? Look I agree he is a dickhead. No one is disputing that. But if you can't see that he is an extremely talented dickhead then you need to look harder. He was NSW 18th man in 2012 playing in a pretty poor team. Like it or not he will be a dominant player for years to come. He hasn't just started playing this way in the World Cup. He was playing brilliantly for the Knights the whole back half of the season.

And Hollus I personally don't think it should have been a matter of Leilua or Jennings (although it probably was). From the moment he came into grade I've thought he looked like the perfect modern backrower. He played about 4 games as a second rower coming off the bench in 2010. Against the Storm and Brisbane were his best games playing bench second rower. That is where he would have stayed imo had Phil Graham not torn his pec in the semi against Penrith. And by the start of 2013 i think we would have had a very good second rower on our hands. That's where he'll play his best footy down the track. And that is where he'll play rep footy I reckon.

                          • Indeed he's very talented, he'll be in the top 5 backrowers in a couple years but I wouldn't want him back. We have the best second rower in the comp in SBW, the future best backrower in Cordner and then players like Aubs and Guerra who are very good and then someone like Langi coming through.

                            • No i don't want Fergo either.

Their talent is undeniable but so is their ability to railroad a teams entire season. See Carney in 2011.

We also have no shortage of talent. So we simply don't need to take the risk.

Btw, I rate Leilua even lower than Blake. Surely BJ has the most punchable face in the NRL.

                              • BJ has always had the talent. It's his mental game that will determine his ability to be successful.
In the semi against NCL, PearceoffJackGibbson and SBW were at him early, he eventually cracked and then made some poor reads. Every coach would have seen us verbal him hard, and will apply the water torture to him.
The Nightingale still has plenty to do to get him right.
