  • Today I learned that Merritt and Adam MacDougal started their careers at the Chooks

Was just looking through some horrible teams of the 90s and it seems they both played a couple of games with us before defecting to the SL. Is this common knowledge and Im out of the loop or what?

I only learnt about Blacklock a week or two back, I've known about Mad dog for a bit though.

I remember watching Mad Dog for us. He was a stand out player even then.

Ok I knew of Adam Mcdougal and Nathan Blacklock Both of those made highly promising starts for us I remeber Kurt Sherlock 6 raving on about Mcdougal and how good he was to me after what I think was his debut against Norths. I have a feeling the old man played for the club or had some affiliation with us. Dont know what happened there and how we let him slip through

I remember Nathan Blacklock whom I thought looked highly promising in 93 for us I think playing Fullback at the time on returning a kick against Illawarra at home he was absoloutely smashed by Rod Wishart dislodging the ball which resulted in a try to Illawarra with the game somewhat still in the balance From memory he was replaced soon after and never saw 1`st grade again at this club

Nathan Merrit I had no idea about
          When you trust your television
what you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information
they can bend it all they want

I have a vague memory of Mad Dog making a hellacious goal line tackle during the Brisbane game we played in a torrential rainstorm. I'm pretty sure it was the one that Cleary kicked the goal to draw the game 14-all.

I remember Nathan Blacklock wasn't rated by Mark Murray.

            Never knew about Nathan Merritt.

He meant Nathan Blacklock not Nathan Merritt.... hence the "Jesus I am tired" comment

That was against Newcastle at Marathon.

Andrew Walker put a chip over the top and Ricketson won the race.

I remember McDougall holding up someone over the tryline on 3 occassions in one game when he played for us.

It was a Good Friday game against the Bunnies in 1995

Phil Gould punted Nathan Blacklock at the end of 1995.. He didn't think he was strong enough defensively..

He was only tiny in 95.

Then he moved to the Knoughts and put on about 25kg in an off-season.
