  • LOD Deal Almost Completed

The Cronulla Sharks have brought back the old and introduced the new for their outside backs in 2014 with the signings of former Origin star Eric Grothe jnr and Manly’s promising Jacob Gagan.

The Sharks are also expected to announce the signing of Sydney Roosters grand final winning prop Luke O’Donnell, after adding former St George Illawarra Dragons five eighth Daniel Holdsworth to their ranks from the English Super League this week.

On Gagan, Flanagan said the youngster had ‘‘unlimited potential’’.

‘‘He is an Australian Schoolboys representative still eligible for Under 20s … but he’s too good for that group,’’ he said of Gagan, an Eel junior, who will train with the Sharks NRL squad.

Cronulla had already signed up experienced Wests Tigers centre Blake Ayshford and youngster Paul Simona, 19, the younger brother of exciting Tim Simona, another Australian Schoolboys player.

Both the Sharks and the Roosters are in a battle to sign former Canberra Raiders centre Blake Ferguson if the NRL agrees to register a new contract for 2014.

I thank Luke for his massive contributions this year, and wish him well at the Sharks (Even though he is supremely fit I am not sure if his body will handle the rigours of another NRL season).

As for Ferguson, apart from him being a grade A moron, where does he play - as Mini will be at the back for another season with RTS, SKD, Jenko and Toops making up the Premiership winning back line and Moga waiting in the wings?? There wis no doubt is a fantastic player but I would hate to lose RTS, Toops or Moga for Ferguson.

As one of my all-time favourite forwards, I'm extremely happy to have seen him play in the Red, White and Blue; and to also win a much deserved premiership while playing for us. Will be a shame to see him go, but still extremely happy to have witnessed him give his all for our club.
In such a standout year, in a standout team of players, he stood up!

Mini's deal is not yet finalised, and this could be why.

If we secure Ferguson, then Mini retires, RTS moves to the back, SKD to the wing, and Fergo plays right centre.

Moga is still very young, and will get his chance when Ferguson inevitably gets sacked.

If Ferguson does sign with us. this could be the case..... if he does start to fall off the rails I hope that Robbo and management cut him adrift before the Premiership campaign is in tatters.

Unless this is a gee up, then the sharks have well and truly lost the plot. They'll sign anyone from what I can see.

They're heading down the same road as poocastle, sign every 30+ year old you can find and hope to make the finals this season. Letting Chad Townsend go was probably a mistake. Not to mention young Peachey.

LOD has knocked back the Sharks:

PREMIERSHIP winning forward Luke O'Donnell could be staying at Bondi Junction after all, with the 33-year-old knocking back a swansong season with the Cronulla Sharks.

It was expected that due to salary cap restrictions and the re-signing of Sonny Bill Williams that O'Donnell would be squeezed out of the Sydney Roosters.

Cronulla were keen to sign the NRL journeyman, however, Sharks officials were told yesterday that the veteran hardman was weighing up the prospect of staying at the Roosters, for possibly another two years.

St George Illawarra and Parramatta were also interest in securing his services.

But it now appears likely that O'Donnell will remain with the Tri-colours under grand final winning coach Trent Robinson.
O'Donnell's manager Wayne Beavis said that while no deal had been agreed on with any club, he was planning to meet with Robinson today.

"He'll either go round again or retire," Beavis said

Flakes arrival is dependant on SKD & his acceptance or refusal to the offers

Farrk the Flake!!!!...., I don't care if he has freakish ability... He may derail us... I hope we dont take that risk as we have outstanding outside backs prospects anyway in McDonald, Moga, Rueben, etc...I also hope we keep the Doofus!
