I thought, after long debate, that we'd decided Mitchell is hooker and Friend a lock???

Another year on the wing with a bit of a go at fullback from time to time will do him the world of good for 2015. Mini would be fine on the wing from about 15-20m out, but anything further than that, where speed is a necessity, I think it would be a fail.
Maybe but in that sharks game he was awesome. Sure he doesn't have the organisational skills of Mini but as his age do you really expect him too?

Mini's speed is rather deceptive, I think he goes much faster without the ball. So if we worked on the way he carries the ball a bit we could see a much faster Mini.

Mini should have given it away after the grand final. Its rogers time now mini has missed a golden opportunity retire as a grand final winning captain. If he plays on,gets hurt or if the roosters don't win the 14 grand final he has missed his opportunity to go out a winner.

This. He started to shine in the Sharks game and that was after 2 games at fullback. Imagine how he'd go after 10 games in the position.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Well **** why don't the whole team just retire now they've won a comp?

This obsession with going out a winner at the expense of more of a footballing career is comical.

Mini was faultless during the last month if the season and should remain at fullback in leading us to back to back titles.

Then he can retire as one of the 10 greatest Roosters ever.

Forget 10 games, imagine how he'd go with his first full season under his belt, experiencing international football and an off-season where he actually trained at fullback. We can't hinder his development any longer, this kid has the potential to play at a far higher level than Mini next year.

              EMBRACE THE CHANGE!!

                I'll embrace the Premierships, thanks.

And he's 20 years old with barely 25 FG games under his belt so his development is hardly being hindered. I mean its not as if he's 25!

On the contrary he's a kid still learning vital skills out on the wing where he can pick his moments.

Mini played 3 seasons on the wing before the shift to fb. And those years hardly hindered his development.

So again, you guys can dream of embracing the change whilst Robbo plots back to back Premierships ... of which Mini will play a vital role at fullback. Im sure glad Robbo didn't embrace the change people wanted midseason ... may have cost us a Premiership!

It's an evolving game....after speaking with Smiffy, his son, Johnny, John Madduke and PIM...although Pearce at Hooker and Friend at lock was desirable...it was better in the clubs interests if Roger played at hooker....and Jake at Fullback.

Seriously I'm inclined to agree with Yak on this one...I thought Mini increased his pace at the backend of the season.

I for one wanted Mini to play F/B last season...however with the development of the squad...feel that RTS is ready to play F/B....Mini would be an asset on the wing contrary to what some of us in the 'Pen' think.

I salivate at the thought of Roger at Fullback after a full-preseason with Sonny still in the team.

I don't always subscribe to the "if it aint broke don't fix it" theory. We should be evolving our attack and defence for the better.....we need to improve next year if we are to go back to back.

I won't complain if Mini is selected at F/B, I think he would still do a good job.....but IMO I think Roger will offer us more at F/B and Mini will still be a handy winger and our Captain.

I don't see what vital skills he's picking up on the wing that are relevant to fullback, they're quite distinctively different positions in so many ways these days. If anything he'd be better off playing fullback in Reserve Grade for his long term development but he's too good to be doing that.

If Robbo doesn't re-sign Mini or doesn't play him at fullback will you admit you're wrong? I have to admit I would be disappointed if you did, this notion that all opinions are justified based on what Robbo does is boring and naive. He's a very promising coach with a great footy brain but it doesn't mean every decision he makes is right. You seem more than capable of justifying your own opinions which is a refreshing change from some on here, no need to justify them with Robbo's actions.

The way I see it, in the modern game Fullback is your most important attacking position in the team. Players like Inglis and Hodges who arent natural fullbacks (or traditional style fullbacks) have flourished when put there because they are they best attacking players in their respective teams. Plainly and simply you put your most dangerous attacking player in that position.

Mini, although providing consistency and good leadership isnt our best option and isnt our best attacking player. I would love to see RTS take over next season at fullback as he will offer more flare and options than Mini.

If we won the comp in 2013 and step our attack up to the next notch then our chances of winning next year will be very high!

Fullback, wing, centre ... the absolute basic attacking skills are all the same. So what I mean is he's improving his skill set as a player. But in particular he's getting great experience under the high ball not to mention becoming lethal with his dummy half running.

For people wanting to improve our attack, what about our defence? We sucked balls in Mini's absence. No doubt RTS will improve but our signature is our D ... 6 clean sheets. And Mini is a huge part of that.

Our attack was the best in the comp. By a fair way I believe. No one can score tries from anywhere on the field, left or right, like we can. So we're doing there.

And again, wingers are no longer guys that just hang around with footballers. They're crucial and RTS is the best. No need to dramatically weaken the wing position to improve our attacking options from fb whilst also weakening our D.

He gets to see one of the best up close and also, no doubt, gets some on field direction and coaching from Mini.
I see big benefits to RTS playing on the wing and having Mini at FB.
