  • Ideas for the chookpen in 2014

Hi guys, I've decided to create a thread in regards to new, fresh ideas for how we as supporter-base can improve and create a better "our house" sort of theme. I've already mentioned how we should create a massive banner saying " the chookpen " just like souths have a banner saying " the burrow ". We should really engage in more chants and be more vocal for the boys considering we are premiers. We need to make our home games more hostile for away teams and really show that the chookpen is one of if not the loudest and proudest supporter-base in the game. Oh and of course also make it more enjoyable for the little ones. Serious ideas guys!

We are the Champions chant.........the Kingsgrove Loiner being a Pom should have some good old soccer style chants we could sing.

I think the big talkin point coming from the penners is that u get the occasional opposition fan sitting in there and ruining there night by chanting for the other team.

so maybe to show our strength and put fear into opposition, we could make an example of those 5 or 6 people who buy tickets legitimately by throwing food and drink at them until they leave.

if someone does come up with some good song/chants, they should be printed and handed out as flyers at the entrance of the stadium, so not only the penners learn it, but also the rest of the crowd who may only be able to make a few games a year.

i'm going to put my 2 cents worth in now.

This will sound harsh, but it is for a reason.

Creating a post about what the chookpen should do is great, but actions speak louder than words.

Song sheets, tried and failed..... unfortunately. It's all good putting words on a sheet, but it is about knowing how the song/chant is sung.

SIMPLICITY ! there is no point having songs/chants with 4 - 5 verses.... won't catch on. I mean look at the EASTS chant.......very simple, easy to remember and now, VERY POPULAR.

Before any song sheets are started, the Chookpen needs to be organised enough that a large enough group know the song/chant that others pick up on it and follow. If the songs/chants are simple enough, songsheets are not required.

Banners are a different beast, you have a few things to deal with, size, cost, stadium security, roorooman is on the right track for a large banner we want to do.

in Late January, Early Feb, i will be looking to organise a bannermaking weekend, where things like songs and chants can be discussed and practiced.

The important thing will be to get people involved in the process, so please put your ideas on here, but be prepared to be involved in making them successful !

WSW have raised the bar with crowds

i agree Muz but if you sent the club all the chants, i am sure they would communicate them to the membership
