He also told me about Wayne Bennet. He actually signed a contract with us in 2006 but since the roosters "officials" cant keep their mouths shut about anything, he quickly got out of it then stayed at the Broncs.

He was very nice and open about everything. So I helped with get around Narita Airport when we got there.
    wrong wrong wrong.

the real truth is that benny didnt sign a contract. we wanted him to sign but he doesnt sign contracts, his word is his word according to him so he doesnt need to sign contracts, until of course he changes his mind that is.

Up to this point in time,he cannot find another deal.
He is currently in Japan shopping himself for a Rugby deal for the current season which is already into round 8 of sixteen rounds,or for next season that kicks off early September.
It is Mason`s call,as he still has one year to go on his contract with us,and our club cannot do a thing about it if Willie descides to play it out and stay...
he will not be here. its all over, end, finished.

      • It's not over til the Fat Wanka sings Fred.

The bloke is too unpredictable. He could change his mind what he wants to do more than once before this latest farce is over.

And there's no rush for me to part with my hard earned to the Roosters - after Christmas is fine. The season doesn't start til March. Better that money in my account earning interest than in theirs.

After all, if I return they'll be cashed up with the Wanka's 2010 contract monies.

Just finished today reading Bennett's book "Man in the Mirror". A top read. As stated, Bennett did not sign a contract. He told Politis that if the news got out that he was coming to Roosters, he would not come. He did not want any of the focus put the Broncos off their season. It is a shame it got out as the bloke is a genius.

            Would recommend the book.

Ken, got a pic with you and Willie? I mean if you sat next to the guy for so long, and he was so open, surely he would have allowed you a photo?

Oh he has photos alright, but a hand job on an international flight doesnt make for wholesome family viewing does it!

can we please cease the quotes from players saying how good the feeling is, expect big things, everyone is hungry blah blah blah. We can safely say this is a given. We say this every year... WHAT ELSE ARE THE PLAYERS GOING TO SAY!!!

THIS is the picture that proves Willie Mason is resigned to leaving the Sydney Roosters, ending one of the most colourful careers in NRL history.

Mason emailed me the photo from Tokyo last night where he and his agent Greg Keenan are exploring big-money opportunities in rugby union.

The photo was taken on Keenan's mobile phone with Willie alongside two unidentified Tokyo locals he bumped into in the street.

Willie attached the following tongue-in-cheek "Postcard from Japan'' in the email subject line.

"Phil, just wanted to let you know that my Japanese holiday is going well. As you can see, I've already made new friends.

"Can you please ask Braith to put $50 on Zipping for me for the Cup [not knowing it was scratched]. I've looked everywhere but I can't find a TAB.

"I've got a pretty hectic schedule but I'll try and get in touch again later in the week. Peace out, Willie.''

The giant Roosters forward is obviously in good spirits and looking forward to securing a lucrative deal with one of the Japanese clubs to play in the same competition as former Souths and Roosters star Craig Wing.

The former Test and Origin forward secretly flew out of Sydney on Sunday to meet Keenan in Japan.

He had the full blessing of the Sydney Roosters management who, along with new coach Brian Smith, have privately said they want to terminate the final year of his $450,000 deal.

The Roosters returned to training yesterday morning and Mason was the only senior player missing.

He will be back in Sydney on the weekend to sit down with Roosters CEO Steve Noyce.

The Daily Telegraph understands the Roosters are prepared to offer him $100,000 to walk away, but Mason denies they have offered him money to go.

When I last spoke to him two weeks ago, Mason said: "As far as I'm concerned I'm still under contract to the Roosters and I'll be turning up to pre-season training as usual.''

At that time he had still not sat down with Smith to discuss plans for 2010.

"We were supposed to have a meeting but I had a funeral to go to,'' Mason said.

Mason joined the Roosters two years ago along with his former Bulldogs teammates Mark O'Meley and Nate Myles.

The Roosters' supremo Nick Politis personally orchestrated the signings, hoping to install the Bulldogs' ruthless competitiveness in the forwards at Bondi Junction.

                          But it hasn't worked out.

Mason never really recovered from a crippling knee injury that forced him to undergo reconstruction surgery and fell out with axed coach Brad Fittler towards the end of the season. O'Meley also had an injury plagued run and is now off to England.

Why would Mason send a pic to Buzz? He could be setting him up or he really is going.

I can understand that. I mean unless I was on holiday in a foreign country, I wouldn't take my camera either.

                              • As far as I'm concerned, if the Roosters want Mason to leave, Mason has only himself to blame. I'm going to get off the fence now and say I want him gone as well as any other ex-Bulldog that believes in "Willie's Ways." I want this so that the Roosters can be rid of the "Bulldogs Bling Culture" that has brought nothing but bad times to the Roosters.
