    Geez, that'd be a first.

    Sorry Phantom, couldn't help myself.

Willie Wanka has always been a selfish, insulated individual - has shown that on more than one occasion. Why would he change now??

He will return to the Roosters if he has no other options available, not exactly the attitude you want from one of your senior squad members. But that's how it will be.

        In many different ways, MDNF.

He has been no different during his whole career - it's always been about him, never about his team mates or his club. If you can't see it in him by now you never will.

To be honest, I can't be bothered to explain the bleeding obvious.

Fact is, you have your opinion on Willie Wanka, I have mine. They are poles apart and nothing either of us say or do will change that. We will never agree on the bloke. So I don't see the point in wasting time and energy to achieve nothing.

It would like debating politics - a never ending diatribe.

Do you even remember his press conference when he announced he had joined the club? He didn't even tell the club about it and instead held it at his sponsors car yard... I am sorry if you just cannot see the woods from the trees with this one..

                  So what...
Our club has apparently signed Carney and Ryles for next season amongst others, but have not even told anyone yet...
It is obviously up to the new players to do it themselves.

                  • the thing that is becoming bleeding obvious about the Willie haters is that they are quite willing to make sweeping statements but not actually back it up with any real examples or fact. cockadoodledoo, NC very clearly stated that in many ways he has shown to be selfish. a spanner put it above, your example may be perfectly logical, but lets just say that yes, he made a selfish choice to advertise (and do his job) for his sponsor on that occasion and shouldve advised the club. now what are the other MANY ways? i dont even really care for Willie one way or the other, despite what you might think, i'm simply playing devils advocate... if you guys want to hate him, great, but lets hear why followed up with some fact.

                    • The fact that's he's currently in Japan looking to find himself a cushy rugby deal rather than facing up to reality at the Roosters says a lot for the bloke.

When the going gets a little tough and things aren't going his way, Willie Wanka sets the wheels in motion to get going.

The bloke has a contract for 2010 - if he wanted to he could stick it out and attempt to prove the critics wrong by playing his best footy for the Roosters. And the best way to start off on the right foot was to be there on Day 1, just like the remainder of the squad, other than those on rep duties.

You know, play by the same rules as everyone else, rather than asking for special privileges.

But it's all just a little too hard, and so he's on the hunt for an easy way out. Just like he did from the Dogs when the going got a little tough there.

It's all about him, stuff his team mates and his Club.

                      • well thats certainly one possible side to the story. here's another. the club realised that things weren't looking too good. looking for the quick fix they sign up willie and mark omeley on huge contracts. both are getting past their best, and on the back of an extremely bad injury, willie never plays to his potential and all of a sudden is an extremely highly paid nothing. the club looking to offload him approach willie and offer him the opportunity to leave-a mutually positive event should willie be able to secure another deal especially in japanese rugby. willie, not wanting to be without an income and a career, takes the opportunity offered by the club and starts looking.

                          • He has a guaranteed income for 2010 at the Roosters, and if he actually played some decent footy, maybe even an extension on that deal. The Roosters could do nothing if the bloke put his foot down and said 'I will prove to you that I'm worth keeping'.

It's all about showing a little determination and grit and not always walking away when the going gets a little tough.

Walking the walk rather than just talking the talk.

It's his career, if he stays and ends up being put in reserve grade/playing off the bench it'd do his reputation massive harm. Would you stay in a job which you think is going to do your future salary major harm?

                                I doubt it.
