This is indeed excellent news.
A contract is a contract, and we should all be hoping Mason produces the type of game we know he can play on a consistant basis.
The only way he should'nt have been there would've have been Smith knocking him on the head.
He always has the Newtown option if worst comes to worst, and if that scenario developes it might teach Polites and co an expensive lesson.

I'll believe it when I see it. Rememeber the club made announcements that Hegarty & Hodges were going nowhere.
If Willie is so committed why is he going to Japan while the rest of the team is starting back at training?
To me its all just talk and about as truthful as, "The cheques in the mail", "I'll still respect you in the morning" and "Of course I won't come in your mouth".Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

A lesson they've not been able to grasp the previous 1000 times it's been taught

But regardless, if he is staying, the fact that Smith has stepped up and shown some leadership in offering him a clean slate is an excellent move
My hopes for the Roosters under Smith are growing all the time
Stay in the background Nick, and let him have full reign to make his own desisions
smith has not offered him a "clean slate".
did you happen to watch the report on fox yesterday? it was rusty fairfax that used the word "clean slate" when he asked noyce whether smith was prepared to give willie a clean slate. what was noyce meant to say in reply - did you expect him to say "actually he wont be here and all other players have a clean slate"???

Uh oh .... apparently Catalan are after him now ....
geez, this is giving me dizzy spells ... he's staying, he's going, he's staying, he's going, no wait he's staying, actually no, he's going ... lucky Willie likes the attention. I can't wait for tomorrow's denials and he's staying.
What a soap opera

Wonder if the news will break while Willie is at the races. Great theatre!!!
It's just comical now.
It's getting more coverage than the Four Nations tournament.
