  • The Meaning of the 9's

With the nines coming up this weekend, I'm sure we are all excited to see a bit of footy again! It will be good to see the boys in the Red, White and Blue run around again, as well as seeing some good entertaining footy from the other teams.

However, what does this whole tournament mean to all of us? I personally couldn't care less about how we go. It would be nice to win a game or two, but I see this weekend largely as a good chance for those playing to blow out the cobwebs and enjoy it. Injuries are the big worry, really hoping we don't pick up any major ones.

My main thoughts have been on the WCC the week later and our first round match against souffs. I get the impression the Roosters are thinking the same - if they were serious about it then the likes of Sonny and Jenko and RTS would be playing for sure.

Overall I'm just looking forward to enjoying seeing us play. Obviously it would be great if we win, but if not I'm not too concerned. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I agree there mate but I hate losing so I think it would be great if we took it out, I think the side we are going to use is capable?

Yeah mate I think we will field a strong team. It will be interesting to see who we send in terms of our backs. We know SKD is going but I'm excited to see if we birth some new talent like Reuben and MacDonald. Good opportunity for it

As long as $ouffs or the Bullcheats or Manly or St-Illa or Melba win it, I don't care.

I actually think the riff or Eels will steal it, they are fielding full strength teams, we definately could surprise though

                  I'm tipping it'll be mid-strength juice.

I have always wanted the nrl to bring in a competition in pre season like the nab cup though the 9s will do, I hope we win it but I hope its an exciting and entertaining couple of days, I like the irb sevens and I don't show much passion for rugby union so the rugby 9s is going to be an absolute blast

It promotes the game. I am cool with that.

Not fussed about the tournament even though it would be great if we win of course. It's all about $ via TV if it's a flop then it can only hinder the game. I would prefer the NRL to put more thought and $ into the seasons match scheduling ,semi final games and the SOO series and allow the players to be paid more.
