    I think there's a strategic angle being played-out here.

In a vacuum I doubt Robbo would have picked him, but given the murmurs surrounding the elbow patch brigade's interest, he's elevating Taane's place in the mix, in what's ostensibly a pointless match in order to spike the kid's interest in signing med-term for us.

My tip - he 'll select Taane for 18th man, in turn giving the young kid exposure to game day and the big crowd, while not jeopardising the team's potency by playing a rookie.

Don't get me wrong - I think the coaching staff genuinely think he's ready to have a crack, but not for another 4-5 weeks, min.

the best way to create some cap room would be to move SKD on.
Mini's exit along with SBW plus the fact that Mortimer is a wanted man @ other clubs could be enough?

        Isn't Moa only 27?

People need to get rid of this notion that he's merely a stop gap until Napa & Evans come along.

He's a beast ... a perfect conpliment with his short, powerful build to the more rangey types we have up front.

I hope he's here for another 3 or 4 years at least as one of the cornerstones of our pack.

I agree but if Sam Moa puts in another great year which I no doubt he will, he will be offered decent money which we may not be able to match if we chase Fafita.

Teams like Manly, Parramatta for example really need to shore up their own Props stocks. I can see him getting 250-275k next deal even more if he continues to play at a high level.

It's going to be an interesting to see what our club does with the SBW money.

The fact he was picked in the squad is not really relevant because he is unlikely to play.

                  Agree.

IMO Evans is not a prop.

Smith has commented earlier this week the cap for next year is under review & changes will be made

the club has been astute in its purchases & without disturbing Robbo's young gun strategies can afford to make large offers to super stars

The likes of Moa will move on & our young bloods will take the mantle alongside top shelf talent

I'm yet to see anything from Moga that suggests he's fast, or a good centre.

Look at his work in the GF.

I think a few people on here are having their judgment clouded when it comes to Evans by how he went in the 9's. I would ignore what happened in the 9's. Evans is a good player and ideally it would be great for us to keep him as I can see him really coming along this year.

If we are to sign Andrew Fajita, I would rather lose Casty a year early as he is only going to be with us for two years, than lose Evans. The suggestion of letting Moa go is simply crazy, just look how enormous he was for us in the GF and most of last year! Also Napa would have to be used mainly in the backrow, which I can't see any problem with that.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

BB we don't want to be letting Moga go! He had a $hithouse coach in 2012 being Smiffy, who was a hindrance to his development. Smiffy used to belittle him in front of the other players, which stuffed his confidence and motivation! As we all know injury has been holding him back ever since.

He will be brilliant for us once he gets over his latest injury, I have seen enough to think that and have the faith in Robbo to get the best out of him!

Well said, he was brilliant for us last year. Was my pick for MOTM in the Grand Final.

Makes good metres on every carry, works hard, hits hard in defence, makes very few errors & gives away very few penalties. He's the perfect mix between aggression and calculated behaviour. The difference between his best and his worst day is almost non existent.

As a coach or a player I'd love to know this bloke's in my team every week. I certainly wouldn't be letting him go so we could make a ridiculous offer to Fifita. In his own rights Moa's already a world class prop.

When it comes to ridiculous things from the telucrap, I want to know what the hell rothwit is on about? rothwit was asked a question of; "any club or individual you expect to feature prominently in your columns this season?" He replied with; "I worry about Manly a little bit. A lot of their boys love to socialise. I always worry about Blake Ferguson, Todd Carney and the usual guys. I think the young Roosters forward Boyd Cordner needs to be careful."

What is the go with the alcoholic, what does Cords need to be careful about??
