Wonder why morts didnt do the 10min either side of half time tonight?

yeah same. Maybe robbo anticipated a fast paced match ( which it was ) and wanted morts to have fresh legs around tired forwards? We tired ourselves out through tackling too much and our attack was disjointed. We were having breathers standing around while 5 m out from our lines, we were bunched and allowed souths to drive us back. It is only rd 1 and we WILL improve, because we are a quality side but tonight we just got caught out. Souths played good, the pace of the game suited them more than us because of the lack of quality pre season training we have had. Bring on the eels.

It's official Maloney the man of the match, he almost single handedly won the game for Souths, but the other 16 numnuts also done their best to assist him as well, what a disgraceful exhibition, we are underdone, and again a thousand penalities, and poor play the balls, loose carries, and too many more to list, good luck to Souths, they played us off a break. SBW, has to ditch the Errol Flynn look alike contest, and pull his finger out, he was one of our worst tonight.

Maloney's Thursday nights usually involve being a comic on the footy show, not on the footy field.

Agree totally, it looks like our off-season was an orff-season and some of our forwards spent it piling on the pounds with George Rose at the all you can eat buffet.

I thought Maloney had a decent defensive game. Teo was terrorising him all night. Didn't have much space in attack all night.

Never got in the game Ray. Especially when our two starting props came off. I thought Souffs were too big and played to their strengths.

If we'd been able to complete our sets I thought we were still a big chance even at 16-8 but we gave ourselves no hope.

A poor first game, like last year.

We dropped the ball, rushed our plays, applied no pressure and had to make 100 tackles more than our opposition in warm conditions.

Ben Cummins gave the Vermin 12 penalties to 6 and I don't think we received a penalty in the last 35 minutes of the game.

Let the Vermin enjoy their annual March premiership. We will prevail in the end.

You cannot beat South Sydney by giving them plenty of possession.

The first ten minutes of the second half where we got the rub of the green the team really needed to build pressure and let Souths defend, taking the two points was the easy option and that's where I believe the game was lost as we never were able to get into another attack set.

I'm not upset that we lost as we shot ourselves in the foot plenty of occasions most notebly was Mini running from dummy half and getting pushed back in the in goal and Michael Jennings brain snap pass.

All things considering like the guys six week pre-season with our World Cup stars back we definitely need to adapt our game as the rule changes have definitely increased speed around the ruck but I trust in TR.
