The first ten minutes of the second half where we got the rub of the green the team really needed to build pressure and let Souths defend, taking the two points was the easy option and that's where I believe the game was lost as we never were able to get into another attack set.

I'm not upset that we lost as we shot ourselves in the foot plenty of occasions most notebly was Mini running from dummy half and getting pushed back in the in goal and Michael Jennings brain snap pass.

All things considering like the guys six week pre-season with our World Cup stars back we definitely need to adapt our game as the rule changes have definitely increased speed around the ruck but I trust in TR.

    Bring on next week.
Just on mini getting pushed back in goal, I thought the effort from napa and toops to help him stay out was sensational.

A 14 year veteran should know better than run upright out of dummy half, 1 metre out from your goal line. Especially when the opposition is in your face.

      • Either way, I'm sure there won't be a repeat of this next week.

Parra are going to surprise a few teams this season.

True, but I think it highlighted the lack of desperation tonight.

Most of our backs got manhandled and thrown like rag dolls, souths made alot of meters with defence.

Mini is past it.Still takes a great high ball.Organizes the defensive line Ok counts the numbers but so he should hes been doing it long enough.I'm going to start counting Minis line breaks this year starting with tonight's debacle. Here is the stats so far 1 game Mini 0.

Is it only fullbacks that are expected to make linebreaks? Think rest of the backs didnt bust the line either.

Count the dropped bombs too, GI 1 mini 0.

Yeah for sure, and I won't be entirely surprised if they give us a bit of a run next week. I'm not saying this as a panic from our game tonight, but I believe our performances will be a bit without rhythm for a while.

However I can't see the eels being as physical as Souths which was a big reason we lost tonight - their physicality took it out of us and as we were underdone we couldn't keep up, hence the last few tries.

Hopefully next week we have a chance to defend our own line regularly early on, if we hold it out then our confidence will slowly rise and will hopefully influence our attack. Either that or we get some early ball and a chance to execute some plays and build a bit of pressure, which was non-existent tonight because we couldn't hold the ball.

It will be heads down bums up at training on Monday that's for sure

                • Lol its all Minis fault.

From GF winner with that brilliant pass to SKD to "**** off and retire" in the space of 1 NRL game.

                  Hilarious.

Oh and where was GI when it mattered last year?

We dropped the ball, rushed our plays, applied no pressure and had to make 100 tackles more than our opposition in warm conditions.

Ben Cummins gave the Vermin 12 penalties to 6 and I don't think we received a penalty in the last 35 minutes of the game.

Let the Vermin enjoy their annual March premiership. We will prevail in the end.
And that will be what the refereeing of all our matches will be like this year, the same as last year...and all the years before that.
Remember coach Robinson's talking to the refs in the tunnel?

We won't prevail if we keep playing like that, and giving away dumb penalties and dropping the ball.
One out running inside their 20...no run arounds, no switches of play, no angled running thru the centres with SBW bursting onto the ball...a la Inglis did.
All Souths did all night was run...all we did all night was tackle...thanks to the refs.
                              Both of them...baaah!

SBW needs a new haircut, and needs to lose that silly mo....they have changed him.
