  • Good to know what a loss feels like again?

Is there such a thing? And to Souffs?

It wasn't just a loss either, it was a really convincing thumping. It really hurt.

It's got me really pumped for the season now though, I want that winning feeling back. Strange or is anyone in the same boat as me?

I hope it's reminded the boys just how much it sucks to lose again.

In the long run I reckon this 20 point loss will serve us better than a 20 point win.

It sounds ridiculous and is impossible to prove.

But they played like mavericks in attack. As if anything they did would turn to Gold.

At least they have been given the best reminder possible - better than any words Robbo could have spoken - that it's back to square one and we're all on a level playing field again.

My ONLY concern is the lack of go forward once JWH and Moa go off. Napa is still a bit green and gets stopped on a 10c piece with his hit ups ... kinda like Jared did when he was a rookie.

I can see Remi playing a big role for us.

    Ok I've digressed enough.

"The loss we had to have"

All part of Robbo's master plan to humble the guys.

the only thing i can take out of the game is that souffs had at least 80 more tackles than us and they could only win by 20

60-40 possession split, 12-6 penalty count, 351-234 tackles made.

Considering they scored twice in the last 5 mins we did an amazing job not to have been belted by 50 or more.

              A lesser side would've I'm sure.

souffs played hard and fast an we couldn't keep up. they reminded me of our 2002 year. jnr should have had a few chip n chases to combat their fast defencive line.
souffs could have been penalized for surrendering in the tackle and playing before the ref says held.

This. The new rules helped their style of play no end. They roll forward with their big forwards while diving to the ground (almost voluntary tackle style) to get the quick play the ball. We couldn't keep up. We were completely dominated. But it's Round 1. I wouldn't say it's good to know what a loss feels like again as I hate us losing anything especially against the vermin. But I think some of the hysterical over reactions on here are crazy.

I'm with you on this towards the end of last year there wasn't that much doubt that we were going to win most of our games and in the wcc we were always the favourites ..

It's good to have a reality check im excited for the season now can't wait for manly at home in round 4 ..

It just hit the point where we took one too many penalties and made one too many tackles before the wheels came off... There was only so much we could go against those bigs and it was just class players like Inglis that turned the game.

Reality check, sooner better than later. All the media talk is on the Rabbitohs now and whether they're the real deal. We'll just have to wait for our Round 26 waiting in the dark for our revenge.

And im (hoping) sure the players felt it too. After such a successful premiership winning season, the drive from the players needs to be rejuvenated. A loss like last night's probably helps bring them back down to Earth. However, it was a big convincing defeat. The manner in which we played ie combinations and cohesion in defence was a little worrying

I thought we were rather average too for the WCC. I guess the short pre-season was a big factor

They had more than 60% possession. They got 12 penalties to our 6. We made like 140 more tackles. I'm guessing we made more errors also.

They scored 2 tries in the last 5 mins, when we were shot ducks cos of all the work we'd been forced to endure.

To keep them to only 2 tries in that 75 mins of footy, repeated sets on our line, doesn't that show our defence was actually fantastic???

Afterall it was Souffs and they can attack with the best of them.
