  • Penalties

We were poor last night and I am prepared to accept that we deserved to concede every one of those 10 penalties.

    BUT...

If you disregard the mandatory penalty for the kick-off that went dead on-the-full, and the penalty for the ridiculous double tackle on Tupou, that leaves a penalty count of 10 to friggin' 1 in favour of the home team.

Seriously? Did the Broncos really play that perfectly in the eyes of the referees?

In their previous two games they conceded a total of 16 penalties - including offsides, ruck infringements, high tackles, the works. Somehow they have managed to eliminate virtually all such errors from their game.

    Well, this week they did.

Pearce was tackled mid-air after a kick. It should have been 100% a penalty, but refs too afraid to give roosters a penalty in front of sticks with scores locked at 18-all.

disgraceful obviously biased performance from referees who think they still work for newscorp?( maybe they secretly do?)

....AND we know the very same refs be back in 1st grade next week.

It's like the refs in the wrestling tag team. While the ref is lecturing one wrestler, the other is hitting his opponent over the head with a chair!

We know what we'll get every week from them.

the speed of the game almost makes it impossible to win on the back end of a lopsided penalty count

It was Shayne "I hate the Roosters" Hayne. When was the last time we won a penalty count under that ****?

He missed two clear forward passes from the Broncos and overlooked Thiaday tackling Pearce after a kick.

Hayne's a prick when he refs us.

                Chook.

Yep. I think Hayne is the least malevolent of them when it comes to us generally, but it was Brisbane....

It cannot be underestimated how tough that performance was last night considering the penalties.

We saw last week what happens if we win the penalties for once.

However the referees have unintentionally created a monster - by making us sprint up 90% treadmill inclines all last year with ludicrously biased penalty counts, we have now become nigh on unbeatable with an even share of possession; and still very hard to beat with 10-1 and 15-1 penalty counts against us.

Expect the penalty thrashings to continue unabated.

Roosters won. Souffs were thrashed. The sun is shining. The world is beautiful.

Against Manly in the GF, knob jockey.

Conveniently, a game where almost every neutral fan thought he was favouring us.

Don't tell me EVERY set of fans believe the ref favours one side over another, it CANT be! They only favour the teams playing us!!!

I just hate the notion the commentators push that we give away penalties on purpose. No team will endeavour to give away a penalty late in the count as it is a massive momentum killer.

By the way, how bad was the pro-bronco commentary?

Dead set as a sport we have the least professional product on television. Dead set embarassing.

I think it was mentioned during the Souths v Tigers game that Souths were doing the same thing. Giving away penalties to re organise their defensive line, however without their one man team Greg Inglis they capitulated and couldn't hold out squat.

Yeah. Definition of a one man team. They are always one injury away from failure.

Another quality post from you Spirit. A brilliant effort by the Roosters to win under the circumstances. Once again, where were the penalties the Roosters deserved to be given that weren't - thaiday taking Pearce out in the air being the most obvious.
