I find it hard to believe that Marty Kennedy, who was heavily penalised during his time at the roosters is now a model player.....the only thing that has changed is the colour of his jumper!

Here's hoping we are good enough to get to the GF again. If we are, we are unlikely to be penalised 10-3 and will be battle hardened compared with NRL welfare recipients like Souths.
        I'm hearing ya mate.

IMO it's bigger than what you've suggested, although I agree those factors come into the equation.

I've seen us become heavily "hated" by most sections of the media and most opposition fans since SL reared its ugly head. Even before.

I believe there is a lot of envy about The Eastern Suburbs in general. Having grown up in the Bondi area I hear the cliches often directed towards our geographical area.

The property boom had a lot to do with the perception that Bondi is the "latte" sets paradise. And it is NOW.

What people forget is that's something that co-incided with SL basically. Most of us true Bondi Boys have moved out of the area anyways. Basically cos we can't afford it anymore. Or we want a simpler lifestyle to raise our kids in, like the one we were luckily enough to expierence growing up in the Eastern Suburbs.

There is also the SL factor. The Gus and Uncle Nick factors pitted us as the "evil" enemy to the Faiders and Wankos. We were the scapegoats and the "cliches" have never been dropped. In fact they are "facts" now. Time and constant reminders, even though they are just propaganda, will do that.

It always cracks me up that teams like Souffs who we sided with and didnt agree with their expulsion now side with the true enemy, NewsFilth.

I know this sounds rather "conspiratorial" but anyone who thinks back to the mid 90s and looks at what eventuated and how NewsFilth used their media arm to influence the RL public would realise what really happened.

Anyhow back to tying this into the Reffs treatment of Easts over the last 15 or so years.

They are only human, Reffs. They grew up mostly in that era. They read the papers. They were bombarded by the propaganda. They were employed by the NewsFilth.

IMO what we cop now is just another "cliche".

So I choose to embrace the "hate".

If ya can't beat em join em.

        I "hate" everyone now.

I think the Roosters are not intentionally giving away penalties but the defensive style flies close to the wind and the penalties are a by-product.

With the refereeing, I do think that $ouff$ cop it a lot easier than any other club but my biggest bug bear is that the NRL keep trying to tweak the game and journalists write about what needs to happen to make the game better. They miss the single biggest issue with the NRL. We have professional clubs, professional players but amateur refereeing. The reffing has never ever been so bad. With more technology and more officials the only result is poorer refereeing. This is not limited to the Roosters its right across the board. These guys have no balls, they lost control of the $ouff$- Tigers game, the can't seem to see forward passes and get the strip rule wrong more often than they get it right.

Tip sheets are a fact confirmed by Harrigant himself.

And those tip sheets are a by product of what I touch on in my post.

I haven't changed my lucky undies since last year let alone my tune or opinion you egg.

I'm sure if you could be bothered trawling thru my babble over the last 10 + years on the forums you'd find very similar posts I've regurgitated.

Conspiracy, maybe you could view it that way. As I said I'm all for a good old conspiracy theory. Some are closer to the mark than people dare to admit. Hence the "stigma" associated with the cliche.

Great post Billy your point about the NRL is spot on. They are running a business that employs second rate refs and a judiciary committe of ex players. There needs to be separation and the huge dollars made thru broadcasts rights can be spent internally to make the game in line with professional clubs and players who in my opinion are not paid enough. If they spent money on the jurisdiction to make it consistent the game would be better off - on a side note I am sure that Greenberg would not like his salary capped.

Just on the subject of tip sheets, they must have misplaced Marty Kennedy's when he moved to the Broncos. He has not been penalised once this season. He must have averaged 3 or 4 a game for us.

His old tip sheet was a NSW one. The Qld RTA have reissued a new one. Like the old days, when you could get DUI'd in another state and keep your license in your own state.

Mate I was there sitting with Horrie Is God and his lady friend.

Dropped by sretsoor's house in the morn. Went to lunch at Southbank with the cheese n kisses.

Stopped by The Caxton before the game. Sat below the scoreboard just near you crazy farkers in the supporters section southern end.

Walked back with the crowd to near Roma St station where we stayed. Had a sing with a busker singing Proud Mary that Easts fans were changing to Proud Roosters keep on winning.

No one suggested where we would all catch up pre-game so I drank Turks in the hotel room with the wife to warm up.

                              Great night.

That's actually not true he was penalised twice in the space of barely a minute rnd 1 vs the Dogs coming on off the bench. The second being the bitch slap to Ennis' face ... surely the best thing he's done in his career to date.
