Is there any other sport that is potentially more vulnerable to match fixing through referees than Rugby League? So many subjective decisions can be made (or, in the case last night, not made), it is tailor made for it. With most other sports, decisions are fairly black and white. Also, to fix most team sports, you have to get to a group of players to throw the game. Being able to make a deposit in a Swiss bank account for one official is a match fixer's dream.

But enough of this fanciful stuff. I am almost certain that Ben Cummins is not corrupt, but merely has some undiagnosed eyesight problem.
Is he just an incompetent dic***ad or has he got an axe to grind with the roosters?Good on robbo for putting this clown under the spotlight.

I would love to defend the pink cummens bloke.
        as his lawyer.

Lead him on, encourage the bastard, coach him.

Sting him in the end but.

Life in gaol wondering why his own legal team did him over....

If I'd been at home instead of at our home game I would've switched it off early on...one didn't have to be Einstein to see what was happening.
As it was, I was trapped at the ground and had to sit and watch the 2-11 penalty count against us and all that entailed.

That little bitch Toovey suddenly ain't criticising the refs.
And he said after the game, "I though there should have been more." In relation to penalties.

Refs got Manly the points 2 weeks in a row!

When I saw the thread title I was very interested to see what you'd come up with in defence of scummins Spirit but before I clicked on the thread I took a minute and tried to think of some reasons I would use in the prick's defence and all I could think of was the Nuremberg defence. I think scummins made a mistake in being so blatant though I doubt anything will come of it given history.

Ben Cummins looked like Oscar Pistorius when he walked of the SFS on friday night.

He should've been walked out the front door and told never to come back.
                  He wasn't.
He'll be back next week refereeing some match or other, probably ours.

In times past, teams that complained were eventually "beaten" into submission...one threat being that they wouldn't be invited to join the competition the next season.
We should keep right on complaining, and hire a bank of smart lawyers to fight the NRL/ARL Commission in court, drag them thru the courts for years, if they try to kick us out.

                    2. The NRL made me watch Soccer last night.
The NRL and Channel 9 have made me read more library books and watch re-runs of 90210. Dave Smith dazzled me at the NRL launch with a speech about how this was going to be the greatest season ever. He had me at 'hello' but by round 4, the romance is over I'm afraid Dave...44 years of going to games and Friday night was one of the worst I've attended in person..

Robbo was talking about the inconsistencies with the decisions, the paranoid parade here are talking about a conspiracy to not allow back to back premiers by getting the refs to penalise us out of the competition. Pretty big difference.

Cummins was shit no argument, an 11-2 penalty count deserves an explanation. But if you think he's going to come out and state he did it under instruction you are deluded.

                          Chook.

I wouldn't dare. Cummins doesn't need instruction in such things. He's a natural at it.
