  • Tim Grant a Rooster in 2015?

    http://m.nrl.com/axed-grant-facing-u...2/default.aspx

Tim Grant is as good as available. According to a few sources he is likely being elbowed out of the club. What better addition to our front row rotation, and timely given the struggles without Luke O Donnell.

    Lets have a look

    Mature
    Leadership/Captain qualities
    Big Unit.
Runs hard and straight, bends the line with regularity.
    Won't cost the earth
    Hasn't hit his peak
Gould may put in a good word for us

Without another good prop, I really worry about the over-reliance of JWH being fit and on the field.
Moa is fantastic, but quite small. Napa and Evans are both very green. FPN has always shown inconsistency and cant be relied upon to lead from the front IMO.

    Won't cost the earth?

He'll be asking for alot more than what he's worth due to the fact that he's played origin.

Good player, but will cost too much, Meat head...

I meant comparitive to signing such as Fifita or Graham.

With SBW leaving and LOD gone we will have the space to fit him in.

You also cant underestimate the leadership void that SBW will leave next year. Grant is the sort of personality that would be invaluable at the club.

He'd be 3rd choice prop getting the salary of a starting prop.

I agree we're an established prop short at the moment and thought we should've signed Plum when we had the chance but we'll be a lot better off for getting minutes into the likes of Napa, Evans, Liu & Casty next year, even later this year I reckon. Casty may turn out to be a top signing after all, it's just unfortunate he has been out injured.

I think if we sign anyone it needs to be a value signing, like LOD was for us in 2013 & Ryles in 2010.

Someone like Lilyman would be an ideal signing imo.

Speaking of props, was that Napa who chased down Williams for that break in the second half? If so, he showed great pace.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Mcendry is a better option in my opinion.

If we get a prop injury or suspension this year we will struggle.

                    We're already struggling.
We need to sign some big forwards in a hurry...and run them at express pace thru the opposition's centres like the Broncos do.

We scored zero points...not one, against Manly 2 days ago.
The magic has gone...we need to get it back now...or the Anzac Day game will be another fizzer..and our season over.

If he's available now, sign him up!

Grant is contracted to the panthers for 2015. He definitely seems on the outer, so there is an opportunity for us to get Grant next year and have the same type of scenario have happen like with Jennings, where the panthers will pay for around half/a third of his contract for us next year which will allow us to afford him for next year.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                      Here's looking at you, kid.

Absolutely not. He had a very serious C6 neck injury about 18 months ago. Would be a walking time bomb, only one bad tackle away from retirement.

Not saying he is a bad player, but a risky proposition. Better to spend a little more to snare Grant.

Im happy to persist with the likes of evans, napa, casty and liu.. For the right price i wouldnt say no but i would rather chase an outside back to cover for rts when he moves to the back or skd if he is pushed out the door
