I'm pleased we held firm on 2 years. A 30 year old would have been pushing hard for a 3 year deal. Great to see we did not give in.

Ryles as a 2 year signing given our current crop is promising in my view.

you know what, for his age, i am quite happy to have ryles at the roosters.

Personally i think that he has something to live up to now, the coach wanted him here because he thinks he has the talent, and personally, it think that ryles can still cut it.

He has only been out of the NRL for 1 year, it's not as if he has been there for 3 - 4 years.

Ryles will be good. our Front row stocks are nice and full

for once i tend to agree with melon. The bloke is soft as. I am baphled at how he made any rep side let alone the national one yet they thought they would leave the likes of luke douglas and justin poore behind? His selection simply highlights the ineptitude of selectors at all levels of rugby league imo. Your notion of us being neglectful of shillington in particular is absolute rubbish as well. Whilst in terms of Hannant especially I think we should have stuck by him, Shillo is on something close to 350k a season at canberra. I wouldnt even pay 250k for him. Further into perspective, he is on more than paea, FPN, Hargreaves and Ryles (our frontrow rotation for 2010) all of whom I would probably take ahead of him. The only bloke in our pack once mase leaves on that sort of money is myles. Whilst he hasnt lived up to his potential thus far, we all know how much ability the bloke has. If he can kick on and start fulfilling it we are looking at a straight-up international starter by the end of next year. Irrespective, Myles or Shillington? I know who I would chose.

The other person cut lose last year was toops. He is also on a salary up around the 350k mark. Im undecided on whether or not I would have kept him. At his best he is worth that but consistency has always been his downfall. He was pretty good this year for cronulla and looked more consistent. The jury is still out for me on him

Shillington made the Australian team only because he was part of the successful QLD team. Poore, Weyman, Douglas are far better than he is.
