  • Lets get behind our boys

As expected, this forum has gone into total meltdown due to 3 straight losses - something that we haven't seen since the smiffy era. At least we had practice back then at dealing with such an event.

We all have to realise that 2014 is gonna be a tough year, as every week we will cop the brunt of the oppositions best performances, which in itself is something we should be proud of, knowing other teams fear us. It will be tough enough when we are at the peak of our powers, let alone going through the rough patch we are currently in. In saying that, despite being hunted and playing below our best, we were a pubic hair away from winning the last three games.

I say, rather than doubt Trent and the boys, and go into total turmoil about what's happened so far, lets get behind the boys! Be confident and trust that we will come out the other side of this and return to where we belong

I'm pumped for our win against the Sharks this Saturday, and every win after that - I'm sure there will be many of them to cheer about!

    Lets go Roosters

I'm sure we will bounce back .... I love how all the negative posts get so many views and replies however a post of encouragement like this doesn't get 1 reply!

Such typical BS from NRL fans. Our attacking performances this year has been below par but I can only commend our defence aswell as our forward pack, things will start to click soon & when they do we will be crowing together!

Than all the bandwagon supporters will come back too.

I believe half the problem is that a lot of supporters expectations were way too high for this year.

Expecting back to back premierships was always being unrealistic. It hasn't been done for over 20 years and if teams like the Broncs, Manly, Dogs and Storm haven't managed it there must be a bloody good reason for it.

Personally, I consider last year's premiership an unexpected gift and I'm not going to be overly greedy by expecting another so soon. They are bloody hard for a team to achieve and I'm not sure you can keep up the same mind set 2 years in a row, especially when your oppoisition is lifting their own game when they play you that second year.

I suspect we will be in the top 8 somewhere by the end of the regular season, and anything can happen from there.

But no matter what happens this year, nothing changes the fact we are reigning premiers til at least that first Sunday in October!

I agree NC, I have said many times I'm still very happy about last year.

I'm not giving up on this year but like you said it's bloody hard to go back to back, it rarely happens.

I don't think we are playing that poorly yes we aren't at our best but the other teams are aiming up too. Throw in a bit of bad luck and that's why we are in this position.

We could of easily won our last 3 they were all very tight games.

I'm totally with you mate. With some of the things you read, the only explanation is that people live a bit too vicariously through their team. Some people need to take a step back and put last years phenomenal effort into perspective, especially considering how often we have appeared in finals and grand finals over the past 15 years. We are actually a pretty lucky fan base. Imagine being an Eels, Cowboys, Titans supporter? Not much to cheer about for them.

The only thing I care about is that the team has a real dig each week and tries to play a bit of entertaining footy whilst doing it. We will be a bloody competitive team this year and we will be comfortably in the 8 come September.

I don't think expectations of back to back premierships was unrealistic at all.

We had pretty much the same roster, a young team with the benefit of finals and grand final experience, fifteen players with World Cup exposure, along with the natural improvement of the entire squad.

On top of this we had arguably the best player in the game with a proper off-season under his belt.

Our last two matches have been against much improved teams in atrocious conditions. I think we would have seen different scorelines in dry weather.

I've been busy all day, took the little lady to the doctor, slept, had to shopping...hate shopping-biggest waste of a man's time ever.
Travel to New York to go shopping? lunacy...must be a female thing.

                    Now I'm here, wide awake.

this forum has gone into total meltdown due to 3 straight losses

Most of the criticism has been about how we're being shafted by the refereeing.
Given that one way or another the forumites are paying the players wages, they're entitled to criticise or praise as they see fit.

With the big bucks comes the 'good' and the 'bad', praise and criticism.

Mate I agree with you, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and say what they please, good or bad. However I don't agree with SOME of the criticism - I respect what every person has to say, as everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what I said is just my opinion, and, thankfully, the opinion of many other chookpenners.

I'm just trying to add to the already large amount of support and confidence within this forum for our boys. Once again I respect what everyone is saying, as it is their opinion, and I agree that the team isn't performing to their best, but I believe that we should all look to be positive and back the mighty Roosters to come out of this period a bigger and better team.
