  • does Robbo bring back Morts this week

will be interesting to see what Robbo does with Morts this week.

for the first time in a while we dominated run metres/line breaks on the weekend and some of that turnaround can be put down to the bigger bench named.

to balance that out, how long before Friend burns out if he is required to make 65 tackles a week.

Got me beat why Pearce/Maloney doesn't fill in at hooker when Friend is off with SBW moving to the halves.

      No to morts.

I'll suggest my preferred option if/ when Jake needed a short rest.

Pearce to 9, Maloney to 7 and RTS to 6. Shuffle skd to the wing.

I think we will see the best of Roger closer in and in the front line longer term.

        Exactly.

Too valuable a player to be used as a hack...and burnt out before his time.
Wouldn't want him leaving for greener pastures now would we?

He must be given a rest in games.

He spends most of the game closer in anyway.

Too much messing with combos IMO mate. Besides in the attacking zone RTS is playing at FB anyway, he's a 3rd 1/2 effectively at those times.

Why waste our 1/2s as tackling machines when we should be trying to let them use up less petrol???

I'd use Maubs more, if Mortein isnt selected. He is like Friendly in defence. He rarely misses and will do the deed all day if required. And I have seen zero evidence he can't pass effectively when required.

One thing I know, if Friendly has to do 60+ tackles every week he will more than likely burn out come seasons end.

Maubs is often under utilised IMO. Our other back rowers are better at impact, I don't really want to see them as workhorses. Maubs is perfect for that role.

            The FlogPen .

            You know it makes sense.

                  FPN OUT, Mortein IN.

The difference vs Parra was having two genuine props on the bench that don't have a phobia of hit-ups (Frank Paul the 7 hit ups for 40m Medicine Ball I'm looking at you).

That'll give STSAE's livechild more game time in the backrow with either SBW or Cords shifting to lock to give Guerra a break.

                    IF Morts isn't selected,

                    11. Cordner
                    12. SBW
                    13. Guerra

                    14. Evans
                    15. Napa
                    16. Liu
                    17. Aubs (ala Michael Crocker circa 2004/2005 ish)

When Casty is fit he will take Evans/Napa's spot and FPN can f*ck off back to the Auckland Ghetto

Mate under my suggestion our halves would see no more tackling than they currently do.

Not major tinkering IMHO...main person affected is RTS but I think it would give him a better platform than fullback to weave his magic.

It's a tough one. Personally I'd play him, I don't think Maubs & Evans got enough game time to justify not playing him.

I think the more pressing issue is who's going to be our lock, I still don't think we've found the right player.

I don't know mate, if one of the 1/2s go to 9 I'd guess they will defend the middle like Friendly does???

The way us and every team plays, especially the combos in defence, that would cause chaos to the defence line IMO.

Not saying what you said can't or wouldn't work just I'd hate to see PearceOrf as that middle defender. He's a very good defender as a 1/2 on the right edge. In the middle of the ruck he'd get every big bopper aiming him up.

Morts won us the game against the Broncos, if Jake was playing 80 in the Broncos game we lose.
