Bill Harrigan was the best referee I've seen by a long long way.

    But the worst boss.

    Strange.

If perception really is our issue then something like this could only be a good thing.

Imagine the club who 'intentionally' gives away penalties hires the ex refs boss to help with their discipline, what could critics say then?

At worst he'd have a few tips and tricks on what boundaries you can and can't push, how to approach the ref & an insight into what the pet hates of individual refs are.

I viewed him as one of the worst refs the game has ever seen. The problem being the lasting effect he has had on refereeing the game since. He started the consistent favoring of teams, he was the one that permitted one team to dominate and seemingly be immune to penalties while penalising the other

Cant agree mate...I thought he completely revolutionised modern day refereeing to staying out of it and minimum penalties. He let the teams decide the game not the whistle as happens now. He had respect and control.

I'm talking big picture here...not seeking to elicit responses that start with..." Well what about the time he..."

That was the touchies problem, video ref can only go back to the play from which the try was scored, not the one before.

We don't have a discipline problem. I have no issues with most of the penalties we give away. Like many have said, it's the farking penalties WE should have got but didn't is what pisses me off.

Harrigan can't fix that. He's just looking for relevance or his broke, either way, no thanks.

                Chook.

A nice bottle of red and a quiet chat might go a long way to solving our problems with the refs lol.

                            Hiring Harrigan won't change anything.

Naming and shaming all those presiding over the game just might though...that's what Alan did/does when he wants action on some matter.

Went after them with a vengeance.
For two weeks the battle raged, with Alan reading out the names on air.

Unfortunately, in our case, there'll be no support from anyone else, as most are already dancing on our grave every week.
We'll have to fight the war alone.
