  • if its possible the pricks in pink are getting worse

anyone else catch that forward pass/obstruction try awarded to Manly tonight, poor old Cowboys getting the royal pineapple treatment again tonight.

not sure who the video ref was but they should be permanently stood down after awarding that try.

Even blind senile Rabs called that. It must have been because of the benefit they were running for Glenn Stewart. I heard something about Autism awareness and thought it must be about his contract.

I missed the Bulldogs/$ouff$ game, but as I understand it a try with less interference was disallowed.

the refereeing is def spoiling the game of Rugby League.

But on a side note, the junior leagues are really suffering because of a lack of refereeing, they are leaving in droves (and kids are not taking it up) mainly because they are sick of the abuse they cop.

One of the worst calls I've ever seen.

It happens multiple times a week.

Poor refereeing standards are bringing the game to its knees.

Buhrer pot-plants himself right in the middle of the Cowboys defensive line and blocks at least 2 Cowboys players from sliding across and making the tackle, it was just ridiculous how obvious an obstruction it was, shit their tip sheets even state that decoys that stop in the defensive line should be penalised PERIOD.

This is why it astounds me when people genuinely believe Rugby League is 'the greatest game of all'.

Yes, many people, including myself, have a passion for rugby league, and for the roosters, but when compared with the other 3 main codes of football in Australia, its running close to last.

gAyFL is probably the most accpeted sport accross the nation. Like RP mentioned above, the Gold Coast Suns, a deadset flogged to the hill franchise, has pulled in 15K members. Think about that for a moment. The Gold Coast Titans, who have been around about 4 more years, have what? 8K, 9K members? As it stands, the Roosters, a 100 year old club entrenched with history, has only just managed to pull more than 10K members in the past few years. gAyFL games frequently attract crowds of 30,000 plus, while were lucky if we get 30,000 to one game each round.

Yawnion is painfully worse. By that i mean, we should be streets ahead of them, but because it is played on a global level, the Super 15 competition attracts enough attention to keep its nose in front.

The only thing Rugby League is ahead of, in this country mind you, is Sokka, but even that is growing in popularity each year. The Wanderers capped their membership limit at 16K because they play out of Parramatta which isnt big enough to hold any more fans.

And don't even get me started on Gridiron, and other sports played in the US and Europe.

So because it isnt on Chanell Nein it doesnt class as a high-rating, financially stable, internationally acclaimed league?

It isnt on free to air because it is an international competition you mong, every game is shown in every country, no matter the teams playing. Imagine living in New Zealand, wanting to watch the Crusaders play the Waratahs, but you can't because the game is being broadcast on Australian free to air television, or vice versa.

As well as this, there is only one game of rugby league per week that is shown LIVE on free to air televison. FTA is dying, and as soon as the broadcasting rights are sold to Fox, where we can watch every game, live, in HD and without commercials, the better.

Lady Luck on our side with that awful decision, but it was still a gutsy effort from the boys!! #neversaydie #gomanly #birdgang
At this rate, the players themselves could probably officiate a fairer game.

                      AFL is on the nose.

                      It's a woefully lopsided competition.

You have 6 or 7 pastings every week. And the fans are turning away because of it.

                      Just look at it:

                      Lions
                      Demons
                      St Kilda
                      GWS
                      Bulldogs
                      Carlton

                      6 awful teams.

And it makes for dreadful footy every week. They literally rig their draw so the sides like Geelong and Hawthorn dont play these teams twice a year.

That avoids more blowouts but results in a lot of matches between these sides noone gives a **** about because they then play each other twice a year instead so its cellar dweller borefests every week.

And the game will suffer more and more because of it.

At least league has great parity which generates interest.

just saw the highlights of the match. Deadset - I simply cannot understand how they get it wrong week after week.

Coach Green did not say anything in the press conference preferring to talk of his team's need to improve defence

Ahhhh this stupid modern day obstruction rule, with it's "running behind someone to gain and advantage" ...such a grey area that it literally is video ref lottery.

Even the knowledgeable experts in the commentary box are clueless as to how the video ref is going to decide...when they say try VR says no try and vice versa.

Suppose we thank big headed Bill Harrigan for this muddy rule which was once a simple straight forward shepherding rule, now a totally grey 50/50 week to week inconsistently applied rule !

The ref's are controlling the ladder by there poor judgements and decisions. Some teams get all the decisions going there way and others don't (guess where we stand .. the latter).
                            SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.
How hard is it to ref both teams the same?
Very by the looks of it.

Absolute bullshit calls on both the 6 again and the Foran try. How the fark Sutton and Mellor got that Foran try wrong is beyond me. Clearest case of obstruction as you would see. Archer doing a great job as refs boss.

If that call cost you a GF you'd burn League central to the ground.

                              Chook.
