Has Pearce now taken this title away from Mat Gidley??

I have not bagged the bloke this season, i actually think he id doing OK, but last night it seemed he was being brushed away and run over.

I think his saving grace may be Carney who was Cordners speed bump most of the night

Did you see the size and strength of the big, young, tough, fast new/old Sharks forwards and backs?
How is Pearce supposed to tackle them?
He wasn't the only one being brushed away and run over.

Time to modify our tackling style and defensive pattern.
Too many ineffective tackles.

"They can't run without legs".

Our defence was good at the end of the game when it counted most.
The players stood in a line across the field, no more tries leaked up the sidelines like earlier in the game.

No agenda, an observation, the Sharks 1st 2 tries came through Pearces missed tackles, I highly doubt the 3 missed tackle stat, Remember this is the guy eveyone says is the best defensive half in the game?

Carney was definately a speed bump,

Maloney came with a reputation as a bad defender. Like Mini and his poor defence, not wanted but it is expected

If it was agenda driving this post, i would have bagged him like others have for our bad start to the season.

I think Maloney's defence has been good this year. Sure he misses a few tackles but also makes some crucial cut downs.

Maloney has 'no right' to even be playing NRL at his size, let alone tacking players twice his size.

Pearce doesn't miss a tackle in the 1st try, so that's not a good start pwn. SBW and Mini miss, Pearce slips over after Leutele is bumped by Mini, doesn't get a chance to make a tackle.

2nd try is a communication breakdown, Pearce never actually drops off the tackle and got his man to go back inside which is what he wanted as we were blown on the outside - problem is the inside man (Napa) had slid too far and instead of staying on Pearce's inside shoulder was standing in no-man's land behind Pearce (DUMB), Pearce doesn't have the strength to take Graham down 1 on 1 before crossing the line. Pearce did the right thing here, he was let down by his inside defender.

If you want to hammer Pearce on something it's the short kicking game, it's pathetic. He's still easily one of our best week in, week out in our team this season so far.

Yes he missed some vital tackles but are you going to praise him for making that extra effort after the kick to pick up the deflection to help set up SKDs try?
Everyone misses tackles especially halves as there targeted every game.

I saw them score 3.

$BW clearly missed the first one. PearceOrf the second and I thought it was Mortein who missed the third.

Pearce did well to keep up with the winger, but only Ronny Coote would have been able to make that covering tackle
